Is it a crime against humanity to USE an LE Busse?

Dunner,

If you're prepared to buy it, then you must want to use it.

If you want to look at things buy art, and if you want to chop, hack, slice, and stab your way through life buy knives.

Every one of my knives gets used in rotation.

I just took a chunk out of the coating on my SFNO splitting a piece of red gum. Now I'll never worry about what task I intend to put it to.

David

Yes, all good advice. I use my INFI when I get the chance to. It's not as often as I'd like but hey, what can ya do?
But I subscribe to the buy multiples and buy often principle.

Well that's an old pic. I don't have any current. I most certainly have a couple of Groove Masters. I carry one when I hit the trail. That or one of those rodent knives from that "other" company. I think the only thing from the last line I don't have is a Public Defender.

I think it would be an insult to jerry if you buy one of his knives with the intent of leaving it in a box. These knives are made with the specific intent that everyone will abuse the sh%t out of them. I would compare it to the idiots who buy Ferrari's, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars, only to drive them on the weekends four blocks to pick up the sunday newspaper... the whole time never going over 40mph.
These people need to be beaten.... a lot. Enzo Ferrari did not want his cars to drive 40 mph (except in a 180 hairpin) and Jerry Busse doesn't build his knives to sit in a safe. :grumpy:

Show his creations some dignity and go hack down the tree in the yard across the street with a Battle Mistress... and to those schlumps out there with the Ferrari's, McLarens, Porches and even Corvetts, send them to me so I can treat them with the loving respect they deserve.

I did get the impression in July when I finally ordered my NO that it was like adopting a puppy and would require frequent walks and exercise. Since receiving it I have tried to live up to that expectation. I am getting that NO out in the field and am better for it. Whatever I get will be a user/abuser...and that LE M FSH looks like a winner!

Don't know about LE's, sold all mine ;) but I use the hell out of my SH Variant :D It's a little suspenseful before the first whack but then you say to yourself, now, what else needs done since it's already "used"?
Bob Mills

LE or not, that first whack is the hardest. But once you feel that thing bite deep into the wood or whatever your chopping you won't want to stop.

I have a 1 off that is a user. Can't get much more 'limited' than that! If you can beat on a $1500 knife, a $300 one doesn't stand a chance.

Use it, or as Skunk says, your kids will be happy to.

Rob

Yeah, you better start using those knives of yours. Otherwise the next thing to happen would be the missing step in the making of the knives!!!!! "Heat Treatment" No point of going through that process if there's no intention to put it into service.

Can even substitute INFI as well for that matter. Imagine the saving!!!...... Blasphemy!!!!!!

Hope they won't ban me from the board :p :D

I agree. For my purposes at least. I won't ever be able to afford a collection of knives in museum presentation condition. I have other interests as well and other activities to gear up for. I want a collection of knives which suit certain purposes and then are used for those purposes. Like golf clubs. BUT, being someone who does appreciate the finest things as many of you do, I am glad there are people who maintain collections of mint condition knives so that they and others can enjoy them. The Bad Mojo site is a great resource and archive of knives I have never been able to see in person. And so are the photos from knife shows of some of the personal collections out there. For me seeing some of these great collections in person would be awesome. I think they serve well to show the lineage of Busse Knives and what, unfortunately, I have been missing over the years! I am glad those collectors are out there!

Dunner, just do what I do, take a picture of your knife in its pristene condition before you use it, then you can look back and say "awwwww look honey, remember when it was new and shiny before we cut down all those bushes..." if you want to, you could make a little family album of all your knives from when they were new and shiny all they way to the old grungy rusty thing you use for digging the grime out fom the floor drain.
Then leave it on the coffee table for your relatives and friends to look through.... :D

Well I'll have to say there are some I use and some I have for collection purposes. Some of the older blades I've tracked down don't get used. I just oinked these two up yesterday.

I have no immediate plans to use either of these any time soon. I have plenty of Ergos to do my work. A few rodents as well that would work just as well.
Yeah, they are meant to be used but a few of mine are just for the collection.
