Thanks for dropping in and thanks for the experience.....I do HATE that lost feeling....I try to carry a GPS now but am never comfy without my bearing compass and local maps (the battery thing is always gonna get you at some point).....Much appreciate your post......In the immortal words of Dr. Kevlar......Technology will ALWAYS fail you, it is just a matter of when.....

Nah, whatever works for you, works for me ;).

I use a 6" 3/8 inch mischmetal rod, so that could be considered cheating when I am basically throwing fireballs. :)
 
if you cheated death because of it...well, then you cheated...that's the only cheat i see with it :D

thanks for posting BTW do you know of a place I could order a thermite grenade. I think it would look good on my sheath and serve as a emergency firestarter (if I don't have any fatwood). Now I've got avgas and thermite grenade stuck on my mind. I'm a third generation oil and gas type of guy we don't have fancy avgas but...... We have drip gas ( natural gas condinsate) it's got a very low flash point and is almost explosive. If you try to use it to light the trash barrel it will sometimes blow half the trash outta the barrel. Pretty fun stuff
 
I burnt the hair off of both legs and had to drop my pants after spilling liquified natural gas all over me one time. Bad part was that my girlfriend had a water hose in her hand but didn't put me out.. Fml
 
Hey Randall.....

I think they frown on thermite grenades outside the military these days....PC has run amok.............In my youth you could find them at larger gun shows in the midwest (we are talking early 60's).....I hate to admit this but I passed on the opportunities to get any....LOL......

That condensate sounds like a little too much fun too........Or can one have too much fun?....(I found myself just then thinking in a PC way OMG NOOOOO......)
