Is it just me or does the official Kershaw website suck?

I'm really happy that Thomas W. is sticking around, as I'm a big Kershaw fan, having gone from ZERO Kershaw knives to 3 Kershaw knives in the last 3 weeks (Chive, Leek, Storm II).

However, when trying to see the other products on the Kershaw web page, I become pretty irritated at the Kershaw site.

The Kershaw Site relies way too much on flash technology. The first few times I tried to access it, the flash kept getting stuck on loading at 93%.

Now that it loads, it tries to re-size my browser, and it has a lot of pictures, but not much useful info, on the various products.

For comparison, the Benchmade website, althought not the most user-friendly, is at least a lot more useful.

And the Spyderco web page is a treasure trove of useful info.

I think Kershaw needs to fire their webmaster and get a new site going.

It works for me on Safari and on IE.

I like Spyderco's website the best, if you have broadband at least. I don't like the way Benchmade lists stuff...takes too long to find what I'm looking for.

I do wish Kershaw's website had more info about their knives. But it's pretty good. Very pretty.

It works okay for me on Firefox. Some days it loads so slowly that I just close it and don't bother going to the page, but lately it's been pretty good.

I just came from there. I browse with IE6 & couldnt get past the spinning gears! A lot of websites get sucked into this Flash Crud..it takes forever to load.

It loads fine for me, but I think the layout could be less "high-tech", it seems harder to navigate with all the flash.

It works good for me (I do have a fast connection, though)... I like the site although you won't get the news or newest stuff in it... for that you need to look in the boards ;) .

Indeed.

I'm new here and looking for information on a Kershaw/Strider collaboration that someone told me about. If anyone could point me in the right direction for more information, I'd appreciate it! Thanks.

(On a related note to poor website design, the search function here at BladeForums.com doesn't work for me on my work PC that is running Win98 w/ IE 5.0)

The search function here is hit and miss....I find complex searches (more than one word) kill it, but the simple stuff, like "zdp" works fine. I'm on a mac now (safari)--same problems on my pc.

Dave, the spec's are being finalized, and official announcement will happen over the next few weeks.

I find it very annoying and overly flashified. It's also not particularly intuitive, and I despise the fact that it spawns new windows just to show me a few details.

OK, I was just shown a magazine advertisement and they look pretty nice. I like the fact that the clip will be reversable. I'm not a big knife nut, but I've got a Kershaw Blackout that I really like and I know that Strider has a strong name recognition amongst my coworkers. I'm really looking forward to seeing the pricing on these knives. I certainly hope they're not overpriced because of the Strider name...

Dave, how much should a full sized G-10/titanium frame lock AO with S30V, that has Ken O's and the Strider boy's figerprints all over it cost without being overpriced? Don't forget to factor in that proceeds from the knife will go toward the wonderful Paralyzed Veteran's Association.

Thomas, first off, I'll admit that I'm not really that up to speed on knives. I'm the type of guy that, instead of poring over specs with lots of number, just buys from reputable companies. Kershaw has already pleased me with one product and I'm more than willing to give them my money again.

I can tell you that I'm really hoping that the knife is under a hundred dollars. I don't know if that hope is realistic or not, but there it is. Looking at the price of Strider's folding knives , I'm afraid that one of these knives is not going to be within my budget.

If it's unrealistic, I would then hope that Kershaw would offer a lower priced SpeedSafe knife that has the belt clip that can be configured point up, point down, and left or right handed.

Thanks for your time,
Dave

Dave, I have a feeling you will be up to speed on knives is short order. I'm so happy you are pleased with your Kershaw, and know it will give you further service in the future.

The knife we are speaking on will be upper end in its specs, and with that will come price. I'm also afraid this will exceed your current budget that you mentioned.

Thanks much for your suggestion for a budget universal carry SpeedSafe. It has been brought up in new products meetings in the past, and you may get the knife you desire one day.

I encourage you to further your interest in knives and enjoy the knife community and forums.

I just bought a new laptop the other day, 512 MB 80GB Ram 802.11 wireless, nothing special 699.00 after rebates and I'm on a high speed cable connection. That site is lightning fast for me, awesome website.

Could you give me a really rough estimate of how much you think it'll exceed my budget? :o

I hope so. I've seen some other knives out there with the feature that I want, but they're not assisted-opening.

Again, thanks for your time, Thomas.
