Is it just me?

The wire clip that is standard on some Spyderco models is an absolute no go for me. Just doesn't seem secure/tough enough. For those of you that carry one of these models...am I wrong?

I had the same impression. I have never handled a spydie with the wire clip, but I wouldn't buy one sight unseen.

I really like the wire clip. It's secure enough for me, and draws less attention to my pocket from others.

Actually it is quite secure and pretty tough. It rides very low too.

I just can't stand the way it looks. I prefer the regular clips also.

i havent got to hold any that sport the wire clip, but have been hesitant in making a purchase until i recieve a decent amount of info from both sides of the windwo on them.

I actually like the streamline look of them and like Johnny said it seems to draw less attention. They are actually extremely durable, but they do like to catch on things. I've brushed up against my couch a few times and have had my Chicago attach itself to the couch. A couple of other people around have mentioned the same issue about catching on things.

I love the clip on my Delica4 and was really leery of getting one with a wire clip as I haven't liked them on any flashlights so far. I got a Sage1 and it's actually pretty nice. It moves a little bit side to side when I'm opening the knife sometimes but I think the clip on the Sage1 isn't as stiff as some other models. I was apprehensive of the wire clip and now that I have one it's opened up some models that I had written off getting due to the clip design. I still prefer the Delica4 style clip though, the one on the Terzuola is pretty useless though so it's more about the design and placement than whether it's wire or solid.

I love the wire clips! They make the knife much less visible, especially when it's a low-riding knife. I'm starting to not like "regular" clips, much too flashy.

Three quarters of my Spydies have wire clips; all are tight, all do their job perfectly and the subtle appearance is quite nice.

Wire clips are awesome. All the Spydies I have/had with wire clips were quite secure, yet easy to draw from the pocket and I also agree that the subtle appearance is nice if trying to be less conspicuous. I think they work very well on the knives they're on and I wouldn't have any worries if I were you.

I have to agree, I absolutely love the wire clip! It affords for super deep carry and it's quite unnoticeable! Holds my Sage1 quite nicely and secure in my pocket! I haven't had any "snagging" problems with mine and I EDC it.

In fact I wish Spyderco offered more of thier models with this variation!

IMO, yes. Buy whatever makes ya happy, but yes.

I've had a Native 4 with a wire clip for several years. I much prefer the wire clip to the solid ones. It holds quite well and, because of its rounded edges, it does not snag on the seat cushions and such like my solid clips do.

I suppose the appearance is a personal preference thing, but they don't look cheesy to me. And they certainly are fully functional and secure.

I was one who wasn't very happy with the move to the wire clips, as I loved the Spydie logo on the regular clips. Well, I ended up getting a Caly3 a few years back and I have undergone a complete reversal of opinion. I love the wire clip now and, while I miss the logo, appreciate the subdued appearance. My Caly3 clip has been pretty beat up, surviving hiking and climbing up rocky mountains in the Arizona desert, but unless you look closely, it still looks pretty nice. I can't say the same for the black standard clips, whose paint chips and wears quickly and looks beat up after only a couple weeks of carry and use in civilization. In the end, I wouldn't let a clip determine my knife choice, as both styles function well and keep my knives clipped on tight.

Looks like I may have to revisit this when I go to the Easton knife show on Saturday...

Just got my Junior in, first wire clip, and it was so tight I couldn't even put the knife in pocket and draw out at first. I'd say it was plenty strong. I had to bend it a bit to get it just right, but functionally, I'm very happy with the clip.
