Is it just me?

I don't have a spydie with a wire clip but I like the looks of it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a knife with it.

I really love the looks, ease of going in pocket, and the low ride of a wire clip. There great for the 3" bladed knives.

I'm not that fond of the black, or silver ones, but love the tempered wire clips. My UKPK came with a tempered clip, and I bought one to swap out on my Sage 1.

I wish the new Native 5 came with a wire clip. Dought I'll get one since it does'nt.

I love Spyderco's wire clips. They pretty stout, low-profile and just plain cool-looking. Since carrying a Caly 3 and now a Caly 3.5, I feel like the low profile wire clip should be on more Spyderco models.

The wire clip is strong and though enough, maybe a bit too much so. I strongly prefer the 'normal' clip as I find it easier to take the knife out of the pocket and put it back in. The motion is more fluid than with the wire clip that tends to hang on the seam requiring a kind of second pull. Although it isn't an absolute deal breaker I would likely change the wire clip for a 'normal' one if possible.

Both of mine (Sage 1 and Super-leaf) seem to catch on less stuff than my flat metal clips - maybe its the rounded edges being made of wire vs. the flatter edges of the metal clips - I dunno, but I like 'em.

I agree with the OP. I don't have a wire clipped Spyderco and it has prevented me from getting models I would have gotten otherwise (Caly 3, Sage, Techno, *DiAlex Jr). It's also always tip-up. I like the 4 way clip used on the Delica 4 and the Para 2.

I'm sure it's unfounded but I have got to have some prejudice to prevent too many knife purchases. :foot:

*Too much $ for VG-10 compounds the problem too.

I like the wire clip. Doesn't scream knife in pocket. Actually I have just about quit using a clip and deep pocket carry is more to my liking.

IMO the wire clip should be standard on all Spyderco knives. It's the least visible (especially in low rider configuration) and the most comfortable of the clips that I have tried.

I guess it might pass for a Lamy Safari!

ive passed on knives with the wire clip they seem a lil bit flimsy to me plus i like the look of the spyderco clip better

To me, they appear to be the most robust clips Spyderco makes. If Spyderco ever decides to allow 4 way mounting by modifying pivots so the low rider wire clip can be used for LH/TD carry I might consider using one.

I prefer the standard kinds. The wire clip is a little wobbly. Seems to fit well on my Sage2 though. I'd recommend giving it a chance if you want a specific knife.

I think every company should have 4-position clips standard on all knives. There have been many a knife that I have completely passed on because I (being left handed... sigh) would not be able to comfortably carry the knife in question. If nothing else, all clips should be left and right hand carry. It's a real shame to be a left handed man in a right handed man's world.

Are you not capable of training yourself? I'm left handed as well and that has never stopped me from getting any knife..once you get used to it it's the same with every knife..at least with me it is. Last resort..drill and tap the other side

..there's also a hunk of polymer/metal on my left side so I had to train carrying a knife on my right

But I agree, it would be more convenient..I prefer the looks of the wire clip because it's more discreet. But the regular clips, to me, feels more secure

I'm in the camp that prefers the wire clips, but I would say I tolerate rather than like them. I don't like clips in general and remove them from my knives, and the wire clip is the only one I usually keep. What I really don't like are handles that end up looking like Swiss cheese because of all the mounting positions. Sometimes I tolerate it, but could never get over it in smaller knives like the Balance (which is a pity, because I love the knife in every other respect).

Having said that, I do find the clip very useful in hard work knives, such as the Para I carry arround the house or the Enduras when camping. I don't think the wire clip would work for the Para, or for knives of similar or larger size, but I may be wrong, I've never tried it.

Wow! This is perhaps the most convincing argument in favor of the clip.

I have learned how to use a right-hand carry knife, but I just carry it on the left and flip it around while I open the blade, all in one fluid motion. I still prefer the ease of a left-hand carry knife.

I like the wire-clips that I have because they seem to ride lower in my pocket that standard clips.

Although I like the deep carry of the wire clip, it doesn't seem as secure as the clipits. I almost lost my Caly 3.5 super blue at a wedding when I got a little tipsy.
