Do you mean 5 & 6? Look at the number on top, not bottom. I was thinking the same. They were the only ones with a model number..870.

I never messed with Alpha Dorados, so 2 might be legit, although I don't recall seeing one all black like that.

5-6 Maybe, but the rest, sure look "hinky"

5 and 6 only, # 5 is the Bones series knife, I'm guessing that 6 is in the same cat.

#3 is a play off of the Tiny Titanium, #4 is a play off of the Lux, both bad rip off's

2 is fake cause the alpha dorado doesn't have a spear point blade. Maybe I wrong, I just went back to look at them and the shape of the blade is right ( almost ) but There isn't one on the auction site with a black blade, and the ones for sale are stamped Buck USA not pad stamped...

The dealer with these knives says they came from a "reputable distributor"...his words. I'm not sure he believed me so I suggested he email his pictures to Joe H for validation/confirmation..... OH well, usually I ignore these things and keep my mouth shut.

A lot of different numbers are thrown about but counterfiting is said to be a $600 billion annual problem with most of it coming from China. Counterfit products account for about 8% of Chinas GNP.

Found some good pictures of an Alpha Dorado, I lean towards #2 being a fake also now, handle scales are the wrong shape and the pivot screw head is different.

The "Bones" don't even look right to me. I'll say all fake...after all, a reputable fake distributor. At least he is consistent.

If the seller is local to me perhaps I can reason with them.

I would like to see a faker list (sellers with fake merchandise) kept current and available conveniently. Perhaps it would be allowed in the Good, Bad & Ugly forum. I don't know.

I see this fake stuff by the ton while searching online if I don't limit my searches to the US. However, lately I've noticed that domestic sellers are starting to vend it. The weeds are taking over the lawn, unfortunately. Lying and cheating. Things are going to heck in a hand basket.

Since they all came from the same distributor, they are probably all fake.

A couple are just done better so they can't be identified as fakes.

I said a few years ago that we'd soon get to this point.......meaning that in some cases we can't tell the fakes from the genuine.

Buying direct from Buck is the only way to be sure on the new knives.......maybe that's the silver lining for them because I'm sure they make a much better profit selling from the website.

Thats why I dont buy new knives, If I wanted something that looks cheap and made in China, I would buy the cheap made in china version. It's less expensive and when it breaks, its no loss. Regardless my pocket would throw up any of those models anyway.

This is more then just frustrating. I don't really mind someone flattering the buck brand by thinking it is worth copying but it is disheartening when you think folks might judge our company by this stuff. I am leaning towards none of it is real as birds of a feather all seem to taste the same to me. There is some interesting anti-piracy legislation called the "open act" that is trying to make it harder to sell fake products. If you google open act a number of articles come up
