Is it me? FK vs DEK

    They look the same to me. Is it me? I am sure a tape measure and calipers would tell me different, but from a field perspective, I think they can serve the same purpose.

    Completely different. Surprisingly so because of how similar they are in size.

    I agree they're completely different.

    I was worried I wouldn't get much use out of the DEK since I had a FK2 but I'm surprised with how much I carry the DEK. It's now my most-reached-for CPK.

    The biggest difference is in the handle geometry, and the handle is everything in how a knife functions.

    The DEK1 Is also thinner, and more pointy. It’s like a small fighter. The FK2 is better suited for bushcraft, and camping.

    I'm out walking rural roads full of free range guard dogs, or hiking, or just outside doing chores a lot more than I'm camping, and grab the DEK every time :thumbsup:

    I'll add to this that the physics of the knife are totally different. DEK1 wants to jump around and move about. FK2 is more planted and balanced for hard use
