Is it ok to purchase the Spydercos being sold in Amazon?

i bought my military black blade from amazon (ships from and sold by amazon.com, not a 3rd party through amazon). with that said, shop around. i bought my orange g-10 military from knifeworks instead since amazon.com wanted $165 for it!

With knifeworks for example, at what point do I contact them for the inspection of the shipment? Before making the order? After? And will they actually check it if only contact them through email?

Anyway, with regards to the topic, seems like there are isolated cases of problems with Amazon, which though isolated, is still something to worry about.

More experience of you guys buying Spydercos with Amazon would be great.. Thanks

i've dealt with knifeworks plenty of times and been very happy with them. call them up before making the order. i've done it before and the girl (with a nice southern accent :D) was very helpful. i've also called dale at the-knife-connection.com with a similar request before ordering.

Most sites have an area during the online order process for you to make comments or add special instructions. You could do it that way.
Each site is a little different, so you might want to begin with an email telling them what you're interested in, your concerns, and the best way for you to handle your order with them. Be a good time to determine if there are any issues shipping to your country.
My preference it normally to call them to place the order if I want any special handling. All have toll free numbers.

There are isolated problems with every dealer and manufacturer, what becomes important is how they handle the problems.
If you look thru the FEEDBACK: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly! forum here you will get a lot of info to help you decide which dealer to use.
I think you will find the same names tend to turn up on the "good" lists repeatedly.
New Graham, KnifeCenter, and Knifeworks are three that make most everyones list, but there are several others.

I've bought Spydercos and other brand knives with no problems at all from Amazon. Free shipping is nice too.

I bought my Sage I, Caly 3 and Dragonfly G-10 from Amazon, they are 3 of my favorite knives, and the transactions were basically problem free. Like other people said--these were all DIRECT from Amazon, not a third party seller. That could be a different story.

The only other thing that wasn't ideal was the super-saver shipping. It's a good deal, but don't choose it if you want your item any time soon. Once it gets shipped out it comes soon, but with super-saver shipping, your order is low-priority so sometimes it can be like 5 days before they ship it out.

Make sure you check prices at other places too. When I was shopping for my Sage I when they were relatively new, I found that AG Russell had it for a better price and with the price differential, I was also able to pick up a Tenacious. I also knew that If I needed to I could return it with out any problems.

I've bought one knife with amazon -- a standard serrated millitary -- it came no issues at all. It had the old style jimping and cost me about 80.00 total -- so I suspect the dealer had found it in the back of a closet or some such.... No complaints from me.
