Is it possible to find a Persian anymore?

I've been looking for a Persian ever since I first saw and fell in love with it in 2005. But no matter where I look, I can never find one. No store I've ever visited could order one, and every auction or sale I found online was over by the time I dropped in. It seems like I'm forever one step behind.

I called Emerson Knives and asked to be put on a waiting list for the next production run, but since they haven't officially announced a re-run of the model the nice lady couldn't give me an estimated date.

Does anyone know of any place, online or otherwise that still has the Persian in stock? Even the great Google Oracle has failed me. I'm literally pulling my hair out at this point.

I don't know of anywhere that would still have any in stock. Worriors and Wonders in Canada was that last place I know of to have them and they are out of stock too.

Your best bet is to keep checking out e-bay and try a want to buy thread in the exchange.

I would sell you one but I have already been hassled into selling the one spare P-Tac I was willing to part with.

:)

well like said just keep looking.

I mean they turn up every now and then.

There was one for sale here actually until someone picked it up.

Just keep looking.

Haze: I imagine you were an early adopter of the knife. I tried to be, but even early on they were hard to find.

Do you have any pictures of your collection you can share? Maybe it will dull the pain while I continue my search. :-)

I've been hovering here in these forums, and also on eBay, but no luck so far. There was one guy selling his ECA Persian about four days ago, but I missed it by a few days. Someone swooped in and bought it just before I discovered the thread.

last year i posted a "want to buy" in the exchange.

within two weeks i had a persian in my hands.

here's the whole group. the finish on the 1911 (or is it a 45, i can never remember) is not really messed up. just a combination of lighting and fingerprints.

Alright. I've posted my want ad in the exchange. Here's to hoping it works!

Thanks again fellas. You Bladeforums folks rock.

I have been a fan of the Persian for ever and had no problems picking them up over the years. They do seem to be a sort after knife now a days but I think that is just more because they are out of production, for now any way.

As the the filthy fiend that got that ECA P-Tac before you. I can tell you that he needed one because he stupidly sold his ECA Persian a while back and it was one of the few missing from his collection. :foot: (yes it was me, sorry :o :D)

You think trying to find a production folder is bad ? Try finding a pre-tac Persian and the fixed blade for sale. :grumpy:

Good luck man, the Persian is quite a knife.

I had the pleasure of snatching up one of the last few from Warriors and Wonders. It spent a short amount of time in my possession before it was passed on to my father as a birthday gift. Needless to say, he loves it.

And I quote: "This thing's fucking beautiful!"

:D

Have you had any positive leads on that one? Do we know how many were actually made?

I wish I could help you out on that search but I don't know anyone who was active and in Bosnia at that time.

I'd also like to mention that with every EKI warranty card that I send in, under the 'Things you suggest we make' section I always write: FRAME LOCK PERSIAN, FRAME LOCK PERSIAN, FRAME LOCK PERSIAN

:p

I know one guy who has one and he just ain't parting with it, I don't know how many were made but there are two fixed blade models that I have seen.

As for the pre-tac I have only ever seen pictures and presume it's going to be a nose bleeder when it comes to price. :p

Well, I have one of those so it's all good on this side :D:thumbup:

I can certainly understand not wanting to part with something like that.

But, I'm faithful you'll get lucky one of these days.

And yes, I am aware of your beautiful frame lock P-Tac. Let me just say that if STR was still doing those conversions my father would have received a different birthday gift. :D

If I had to lose the ECA Persian to anyone, I suppose I'd prefer that it be you, Haze. I know what that can be like having a collection of something that feels incomplete. I currently have a similar grinding obsession with finding an original CZ-75.

I hereby bestow upon you the title of "Pers-Snatcher". :)

I agree though, the Persian is lovely. I mostly want one because it is a perfect fit for my hand, it suits the kind of work I do, and it complements my Kuntao perfectly (in training, my instructor employs heavily curved blades).

The Persian also bears a strong resemblance to a folding knife my grandfather gave to me long ago, and which I later lost during a chaotic move to the United States from Turkey.

Ideally, I'd like to see a Persian Tactical with a wave opener. If the next version of the Persian doesn't have one, I may modify a classic P-Tac if I ever get my hands on one.

Oh man, a frame lock Waved Persian would be phenomenal.

Thanks, I feel better about it now. :D:thumbup:

The P-tac is one of those knives that feels perfect in every grip you can think of. The fixed blade must just about be the perfect small fighter. I have been doing Silat as well as other ME fighting systems for a while now and find the P-tac to be just what the Doctor ordered. ;)

I'll defo keep an eye out for you, since I sniped you on that other one it's the least I can do. :)

Much appreciated, Haze. My chances of finding one have probably increased significantly.
