Is it possible to order a BUTANIKU?

Thanks for all the energy and excitement on this thread. GREAT!

You all are great I had some more to say but somehow erased it, so it couldn't have been that important.

Dang this is the third time I have typed on this thread but something keeps maknig them disappear.

I wanted to respond earlier today but was in the car on the way to out of town doctor's appt so Iam getting really punchy!

Thanks for everyone's respones and energy.

I did not know LEXI was a follower of the MUSASHI two sowrd school. SHe should have her own comic book, but it should be in JAPANESE and read right to left back to front.
(A cryptic statement)

Using the standard measurement to determine proper length for a katana, my number is 30 inches. So IT should cut well. (Another cryptic statement)

OK 2 is my limit. ANymore mystery and I have to change into a my black ninja jammies and burn incense.

Good night all.

Oh, and it may be that my plan to have a gladius, may be instead a RUK.

The short AB will still have the longer handle, fullers, and thicker stock. And a longer blade than an AK

43.5 oal, 31.5 blade. I don't have a scale but i think it's somewhere in the 40-48 range.

I think the smaller Butaniku is 26" Blade so 38" overall. I haven't seen one but it seems like somebody said that.

Is/was a satin version made or just coated blades for the Butaniku? They look pointy & sharp

Thanks darkaether... Yr specs and pics helps a lot...
I probably try to get ak47 from the custom shop when Garth have blanks.

It is ok with me if the thread expands to include all things BUSSE single edged swords.

Anything anybody wants to add is great!

In my experience, length and weight mean a lot less than balance.

There have been a number of previous threads with mention to this and that...things that some folks were critical about. Looking at a picture can inspire or not.

And sometimes personal bias comes into play as much as knowledge does.

I was interested in the seemingly narrow blade. I would be interested to know anybody's impression of cutting with it.

I thought I read something about the handle being narrow as well, but a traditional handle wrap would completely change that as well.

Is anybody planning on stripping their blade and giving it a satin finish on it?

It would be great to have somebody brave that process, and make comparison with cutting with and without the blade coating.

Is anybody planning to chop a car in half?

Shane

The Butaniku has excellent balance, better than the AK in my opinion.
I have cleared some brush with mine, couple smaller trees. There are pics around here somewhere.
Threw it a dozen or so times at a huge styrofoam block Sandy deposited in the woods. Stuck it in the ground more thal the block :)
Once I have worn a bit more coating off I will strip it and give it a home comp finish. I doubt I have the patience to go full satin.

That's awesome VORACIOUS!!!

Out-DANG-standing!

I like your attitude! GO use it instead of leaving it on the wall!

When I ordered my Short Butaniku, I asked Garth the blade length, it's 23.5" with the same handle 12" OAL=35.5".
I forgot to ask the thickness <duh>, but it should be the same as the full size Butaniku, if anyone knows that.

This is gonna be the longest wait of my life!!!!! :D
