Simple question. I kinda hate losing the valuable blade length for a finger choil on a knife under 6". Is it possible to get one of the D2 models without the finger choil?
I had intended to ask the same question about getting a Bog Dog with either a small choil or none at all. When I say "small choil", I mean the same size as the one on the Mean Street, about 1/4" (which is the same size choil as on the crinkle-coated Basic 3, 5 & 7). I can see where a large choil could be useful on a knife the size of the Battle Rat/Basic 9 or Battle Mistress, but I fail to see the need for a large choil on smaller knives like the Bog Dog, and would much rather have the extra 1/2"-3/4" as cutting edge.
i dont so much mind losing the blade length, as i dont like the way its lost. i always end up having the material slip into the choil when im drawing the knife into it...
that being said, the foward curve of the choil could be sharpened... heh...ya... i dont know how that would turn out...
in all things there are compramises, and i think the choil on the bd is worth the price point/bladeshape/handle... though i will say that the mini choil is nice to have . cant really beat the bog dog for weight though. the things like a feather
