can you wear out the spring or what ever makes it open?...cause i like to sit there when im bored and just play with an ao knife and i dont wanna wear out my new kershaw

Yea of course. It's happened to me before when I had a ZT 0350. The torsion bar just ends up snapping after some time.

Yes, torsion springs can wear out/break but Kershaw will more than likely replace it if it does.

ETA: Whoa, three replies at once - that's gotta be some kind of record!

so if im like "hey kershaw buddy...my spring gave out" they will be like "hey joe buddy no problem *fixes it* here ya go"?

Yes, they'll send you a new spring for free. More likely, they'll send you a bunch of them. Or if you don't want to take the knife apart you can send it in and they'll take care of it.

duuude i farking love kershaw now :D...ive had the blade for like 10 hours and i already love it and they will send me extra springs :D THATS SO AWESOME SAUCE!!!

You'll get like 3 of them or so. You'll probably also get screws, and maybe if you're lucky, a socket tool.

You will want to edit your cus word out, Joseph. This forum is viewed by younger members as well. Thanks.

The one on my Zero Tolerance 301 and Kershaw Leek both broke. Kershaw will send out the springs for free to replace it.

When I emailed KAI that I was in the Philippines and I wanted to buy extra torsion bars, they sent me these free of charge. They wouldn't even let me pay for shipping. Extra clips. extra screws, extra pivots.

Very Possible. And With A Lot Of Flipping And Usage It Eventually Will.
But Kershaw Is A Good Company And Every Knife Comes With A Lifetime Warrenty.
Unless Of Course You Decided To Heave It At A Wall, Or Hack It With A Chain Saw... Then That's Your Fault, And No New Screws, Knife, Etc. For You Lol.
But Yeah, If It Happens No Worries.

Whatever happened to thread with the guy who was test firing his Kershaw Leek to see how many openings he'd get until it broke? He was up to many 1000's of openings and the thread stopped? Maybe he lost it or something? :D

Same here. I had a situation I felt I should be paying for. We went back and forth, but they wouldn't budge. It was going to be free or not at all. Kershaw's customer service is a beautiful thing :-)

from what i understand metal fatigues under repeated cycles and not from being kept under tension so if you open and close it enought times, it will fail. that being said, i doubt you will wear it out from playing with it. I think you'll get bored before it breaks.
