Scratch and sniff? :D I have yet to seen any fake stag crowns on knives yet. I would think by just looking at it you could tell.

I just sold a knife on ebay that appeared to be real to me but when it arrived the person told me it was a fake molded or cast replica, man I could not tell.

The porosity on the end of a stag crown is hard to fake unless the person is a real artist. Even if it was molded the coloring would make it hard to fake..... pics please?

I agree with Keith you should at least post a photo or tell who the maker is for a more informed opinion.

Crown stag is hard to fake, the roughness on the skull end would be smoothed out in the casting process. Around here white tail crown stag have small holes for blood vessels around the perimeter and cannot be faked.

I am not saying that someone would not take the time to fake crown stag but it is unlikely. Stag rounds and scales have been faked for years in plastic, jigged bone and other materials because they are not as difficult with regard to shape and undercuts.

One smells like burning hair the other one melts if you put a hot soldering iron on it.
