Is it rust?

I noticed on my small sebenza today, what looked like rust spots. It was around the thumb stud. This was very surprising, as I just cleaned and washed my sebenza 2 days prior. The spots wouldn't rub off, but when i tried to scratch it off with my nail it came off rather easily. Is this rust? Any help would be appreciated.

If it is the old ATS-34 style then I would think it could be light rust.I'm not sure if the BG-42 would do that or not.I have'nt experienced that steel yet.

All steel with carbon will rust. Some are just stain less. :]

from what i have seen bg42 and ats rust about the same....which is pretty easy if you let it....
