Is It Safe to Eat Bacon?

How many other things are we told are unhealthy for us to eat? I'm sure that if the food I eat is going to kill me, I'm going to die full and happy. I choose BACON!:D

I think my body would go into trauma shock with out sodium nitrate. I am all in favor of pink meat!!!:p

They just announced that eating bacon can cause every possible health problem. Therefor, you should send me all your bacon right away for safe disposal :D

I have a family member who is vegan, he goes by the name "yelawolf" google him and you will see what kinda people vegans are , when you see him youll be like wht the hell's wrong with that dude ? Answer , He's a vegan, We are related through marriage BTW , nobody in my family would not eat tasty bacon.

Yelawolf "hard white?"

I will have to die to give up 2 things. One is bacon and the other involves a willing participant. Till death do us part. ;)

On serious note,as a personal trainer, bacon can only be a good choice if cooked in coconut oil (coconut oil doesnt turn into trans fats at high temps),the pig had no hormones or any genetic modifications (just about every GMO product can be linked to tumors) and if the overall diet is good (organic,no grains, proper fat intake etc),I love wild hogs and have no problem with bacon but if I have the option of getting something healthier,I will and any factory raised animal is bad for your health.
Being a vegetarian is only possible in a society where NOTHING will ever go wrong,no economy collapses,no natural calamities,no conflicts,no crops dying, basically Utopia,I will admit that being a vegan is better for your health(if done right, which takes A LOT of studying) because meat is very hard for the body to digest but if it wasnt for meat we wouldnt be here to discuss it on our computers, under our roofs with food in our fridge, meat is one of the main reasons why our brain is the size it is and why we have advanced so much,I however will not become a vegetarian because I enjoy being a testesterone driven caveman at heart,I enjoy hunting and fishing and I enjoy having a large muscular frame, being a vegan would put a quick end to all of that.
I also think most vegans are soft and would be useless in most scenarios where strength and aggression is needed (not all, about 97%,I know some extremely fit and strong vegans) but the usual vegan is a frail, half dead, not sure of the gender human because they dont get all the essential nutrients,I would like to point out that being a vegan (usually) isnt because the person genuinly feels horrible for animals dying, but because it gives them somewhat of a bragging right to being a better person,I can also vouch that vegans exist almost entirely in 1st world countries,Im from the former Soviet Union and got to travel a little bit around and vegetarians are almost as rare as unicorns due to the available food,I think when people have too much they will find things to be upset at,this is just my opinion, but I have seen a lot of different people in terms of health and diets and this seems to be the general trend.
I dont hate vegans, but I think being one is silly at best,I dont know any that would even remotely come close to the kind of performance meat eaters have in terms of strength, endurance and explosiveness.

I will add to the above post by saying that plant matter can actually be harder to digest than animal matter. We don't have the luxury of four stomachs full of bacteria and teeth that are built for grinding like ruminoids are blessed with.

A cow will chew a single mouthful of grass 100 times before swallowing, then several hours later regurgitates and chews some 100 times more after the bacteria has had a chance to break down the fiber/cellulose. Most of what the cow absorbs through it's intestines is saturated fat which was not present when ingested, but converted from other nutrients by the bacteria in it's stomachs.

We have one stomach with a trivial amount of bacteria and teeth not so well suited for grinding, so raw vegetables have very little bio-availability to our bodies as it is essentially locked in fiber and passes out more or less whole.

Which is my many raw food eating vegans are like little stick people, their bodies are being starved of essential nutrients which eventually ends in a premature death.

Very good post, but for conversational purposes I will mention our ape days (sorry to anyone thats religious, but facts are facts),we were originally herbivores but as climates changed we had to climb down from the trees and search for alternate food sources (meat, thankfully) and we became omnivores,I think our ability to digest veggies isnt the greatest but enough for our needs,I think it is essential to our health to have a balance of meat and plants.
Old article but I think its worth seeing and keeping in mind.
