Is it worth it?

I have just ordered one today (Black handle, satin finish plain blade). I like the full flat grind, 4" blade & CPM S30V steel. This will be my dearest knife and it should be a damn good slicer.

I'd go with a Junk Yard Dog II with the composite blade in D2, costs less, is a tank, carries much smaller than it is, you can pry with it and I do, holds a edge and I think its just more value for the money, but it doesn't have a hole.

I own quite a few Spyderco's and thats the next knife on my list.

My buddy has one and loves it...I'd say go for it.

Short answer: No, it's not the right decision.

But as typically these kinds of posts are made by people who've already made up their minds, I won't waste my time getting into details. Also Spyderco has a huge brand following and I don't feel like getting mobbed by all those people. So just do what you've already decided to do and buy a military just like everyone else.

Good answer...you really added a lot to this thread

What do you suggest?

I can only comment on the paramilitary. I have one in D2 and I prefer it to my BM Griptilian. The action is great, it opens and closes very smooth, lock up is great. It is easy to get a good grip if cutting with force. The Spyder hole is a great device, or lack there of for opening. I still love my grip, but if I had to choose between the two, I choose the para. I am a D2 junkie, so I am saving my pennies for a D2 military. Wish me luck, they are fewer and farther between opportunities. I will be purchasing a Military, you should too, you will not regret it.

the military is awesome. it is ABSOLUTELY worth the price and its just a beast knife all around and as far as high volume production folders go its almost impossible to beat.

personally I like the para-military better. but if you are in the market for the full sized folder DO IT.

bought it and it did nothing for me. was most impressed with how scary sharp it was though. but like stated before knife has thin fragile tip & feels very light weight for name. would be great cut & stab. that said ill sell you my uncarried, like new,no box black in s60v for $90.

Hey thanks, but back on page 1 I said that I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a digi camo version.

Thanks for the great offer though
