I feel like im always the one wanting others to send a trade item first, im sure they feel the same way, but someone has to give if you want it to work. How do you guys feel about this? How do you decide who sends first?

who ever has less pos feedback sends first...most people just agree to send at same time and exchange tracking at same time

Lots of trades have a person with no, to little feedback send first. It's quite common I think. If you have no feedback or are new. Expect to send first.

Thankfully, I have never experienced a "bad" trade or had any problems doing a trade or sale for that matter. I've heard from other members that it is sometimes customary for the person who is responding to the post or ad to send their item first. Personally when doing a trade , I always request that we send out our knives at the same time on the agreed upon day and time and shipping method (priority, first class, etc.) and always with tracking information. That has always worked for me and I haven't been asked to send my item first.

If someone were to ask me to send my item first, whether or not I posted the ad, I think I would feel a little suspicious and back out of the deal, even though, as I stated before, it is how some people are used to doing trades. IMO, I feel both parties should ship at the same time and provide tracking information. That way, you can verify that there is indeed something in the mail.

I think that sending at same time and exchanging tracking seems to be my favorite so far, i have had the most success with that. I have been ripped off once, but hey, its just a knife, not really that big of a deal to me turning my life upside down over a few bucks :)

What sucks is somehow i lost my old account so im back to step one, but i got no problem sending item at sametime. If its a really expensive item or knife i DEF prefer to send at the sametime.

Your feedback score is Zero. Mine is 48. Nothing personal, but you're going to ship first, or a trade isn't going to happen. Not that I think you're going to pull a fast one on me, but you don't have the feedback yet to show that you won't. Once you get it built up, others won't be as likely to ask you to ship first.

When my feedback was in the mid 40's, I had someone with a rating of 2 insist I ship first. No dice.

But for most cheapos, meh doesnt really matter.
No offense intended but your posts raise the flags up a little. Nothing wrong trying to get some information but if you have been here before you should know pretty much how it works.

You have been here for about 20 minutes so I would say you are the one needing to pove your self. What is that you think established members with potentially years of membership and many, many deals behind them have to prove to you ?
If you are deling with another member that is at "zero" perhaps you have a point but you would have to batter than one out with who ever that was. I don't see a single established member sending a trade item to you first as it stands now.

This is standard forum etiquette. If you're new and want to deal, you make your first few with people you know can be trusted. Simply do this until others can trust you. Doesn't take much.

One of the few times I decided to get involved in a trade we both agreed to send out knives at the same time. The dirtbag waited until he got my knife
and then demanded more stuff be thrown in the deal before he would ship his knife out to me. I demanded my knife back on general principles alone
and needless to say I have had no more dealings with him and would be very weary doing any trades again. It would have to be with someone who
is rock solid on the forums.

I had to ship fist when i first arrived here to build my feedback up, As did most other people, now if I put a knife up for trade, which I doubt I ever will again with the low ball offers I always get, The first thing i do when someone sends me an offer is check their feedback, I also post in the thread that I don't care about any other feedback except bladeforums as this is where the transaction is taking place, I've had members get very mad at me because they would have 0 feedback on here and say but I've got 100,000,000 positive feedback score on ebay I'm just new here. Well sorry, unless you ship first no deal, All we have on here is the feedback system, yes you can call the postal inspectors If scammed but it's a big hassle, It's best just to make new users ship first for peace of mind, I've been ripped off before as well so I take every precaution I can to make sure that doesn't happen again...even If i sell a knife I make the buyer sign for the package so there is no disputing he himself got the package. Also If a member is too pushy on a trade that sends a red flag up to me , or if he offers me a knife worth way more than what I have up for sale /trade, I will decline the offer, unless we have done business before or I know you, I'm very picky who I trade with, even who i sell too, My advice to anyone new who wants to trade is find someone with a good rep. to get you started, and only trade with them, then when you get some feedback established, then others will likely ship the same time as you, but not until you have established that you are not here to scam others, On the flip side of that some members that have been here for years and have a lot more feedback than myself, have sent me ridiculous low ball offers on my Striders before I'm going to withhold their names as this isn't the place for that, and in some cases Members with very high feedback scores have decided to rip off a new person , thinking they could get away with it because of their high feedback score and good reputation, but our Mods do a good job of investigating this crap, to see who is at fault and who isn't If someone with a feedback score of 100 transactions and 100% feedback screws over someone with zero feedback as long as person with 0 feedback has the proper paperwork showing yes he did ship what he said he shipped then our mods will handle it.(as will paypal) if you bought it just don't use gift or the personal option, pay the fees to save your butt in case you get ripped off.

In the beginning I even took pictures of the knives I was shipping out in the post office box and pictures of the box with the name and address where it was going and gave the buyer or trader my cell number and told them to call me if they had problems, I still give them my cell number ,In case anything goes wrong and If someone is worried about a knife getting to them, I will still take pictures to ease their mind.
