Is KA-BAR doing a bad job marketing Becker micarta scales?

Or do they just want to directly sell them? From what I'm seeing there's really no major places that offer them for sale (except Tomar).

I expected these to be pushed through distributors and be available almost everywhere that sell's the new Becker line.

What gives?

I also expected to see them offered as an option when the knives were ordered. As it is, we have to pay for both the grivory scales and the micarta in order to be able to get the micarta grips. Why not the option (either/or)?

The last time I asked Ka Bar about stocking them I was told that the Micarta Scales would only be available directly through Ka Bar; at that point I dropped it. If another dealer has them I will look into them again.

NGK just picked some up after I asked so you might want to look into it again.

rmc, micarta Becker grips ordered. May be a week or two, as they come direct from KaBar/Becker through my distributor.
Thanks, Mike
KaBar/Becker is not giving dealer discounts as the grips (and the BK77 Extreme) are limited production. Grips 40.00 BK 77 Extreme 300.00 ouch!

This also makes me wonder how Tomars is selling them for $2.58 cheaper than they are listed for from KaBar...

Not that $2.50 is going to break the bank but now it seem's there are 3 different shops all getting different stories about Becker micarta's.

I assumed Tomar's had a connection to Kabar. Anyway, they're a great dealer. I got three sets of grips from them. :)

KaBar can run sales any way they want but clearly there's some confusion as to whats going on. Who can get them? what price? how long will these be available for sale?

I have no issues buying stuff from other people but NGK has made a loyal buyer out of me...

I have heard that most manufacturers will sell products a little higher on their sites which will not be in direct competition with local dealers (maybe distributers of their products).

I'm still waiting for a D2 KaBar without serrations. I think it'll be awhile.

good hijack, and to the rest of us who are here for the becker micarta, some royal purple would be nice and dark OD green too to go with my paracord fiascos

When i saw this thread i was like WooHoo, i'll order a BK9 now................then i see the $33.00 postage cost for the handles to Australia HOLY SHIT !.

will these fit a brute?

They might but they say "These attractive green canvas Micarta handles will fit KA-BAR Becker knife models BK2, BK3, BK7 and BK9."

So you'd really have to just buy a set and try them out.

They will fit the Brute, you just need to get longer screws. I've had them on every Becker that I've had that came with the Grivory scales; BK-1, BK-2, BK-3, BK-4, BK-5, BK-6, BK-7, & BK-9 ;).

Pic's or it didnt happen!

The reason kabar does not tell you if they fit the brute or other disco'd models, is because they are no long produced.

I know they will fit the Camillus and the new Ka-Bar Beckers, I'm not sure about the older BlackJack ones though.
