That's a shame. I started out there. They had some sub forums that others didn't cover. I believe all the forums are experiencing some competition from instagram.
Peter, IIRC one of their more active subforums, In The Kitchen, apparently collapsed in a cat 5 hurricane of butthurt. Those folks migrated to Kitchen Knife Forums, which was started by a couple and owned by one of the butthurt apparently. It sold to the guy who owned the home brewing and goat breeding forums and apparently, some more the butthurt moved started the Kitchen Knife FORA. Cover ANd original, eh? Good thing they didn't try that with the jerk who owns the big bushcraft forum. He would have sued them for using the word fora, problably kitchen and maybe even knife. That's a shame. I have heard for a few years about knife makers going to Facebook and then to Instagram. i still don't know how you would get NEW followers beyond your fans. But I guess some of those guys have a core of fans that buy all that they make.I keep hearing the instagram thing, but I honestly can't see where that and the traditional forum are even remotely alike.
From what I can tell instagram is basically someone posting a picture with little to no additional content and then maybe a few people comment.
I am not saying your wrong, just that I don't get it. What am I missing as far as the appeal for instagram?
I get so much more out of a traditional forum than just seeing some pretty pictures. Is it just cause all the cool kids are doing it?

I have never used facebook or instagram and have no plan to. It was just what I had heard was the reason some knife makers have been dropping the traditional knife forums-supposedly too busy to handle both or maybe the cost advantage plays a part.
It was just a comment backed by hearsay-may be right may be wrong.
