Funny thing is that i got the same exact one and i was worried it was fake too. i forgot where i read it but yeah, they changed the cage like someone mentioned here

As stated above, the new Manix 2 Lightweights with the torx adjustable pivot all have the black ball bearing cage (a.k.a. "buttons").

Slightly old bump....

My blue Manix 2 LW with Torx pivot has the clear cage and it was bought at the Spyderco outlet.

That isn't surprising - when switching materials or colors, the ones that are already made don't simply disappear; and it makes sense that (after a point) the outdated version would go to their outlet rather than to retail stores.

I think it is just called an outlet, not in the sense of a clothing outlet. It is the Spyderco shop in the Golden factory. They sell all current production knives.

There are many pics of the blue M2 with Torx and clear cage around. Not a rare knife.

The black cage is better than clear but IMO it should be metal. I've heard of people breaking the stem even on the black version. It's still usable just moves around a bit. The plastic cage is the only minor complaint I have about my Manix otherwise it's a hell of a knife.
