Just use a steam iron to laminate it back together. But don't leave it on the blade for too long or it will have an embarrassing ironing mark on it.

ahhh....that makes sense. so its not dark marks its hollowed areas shadowed from a void...okay I'm following now, thanks Bill.I’ve seen steel sheets split like that before. Voids are the bane of the steel industry. Send it to Benchmade.
Do you have a strop? A few swipes on a strop will handle that pretty much immediately.I’m sorry I don’t know reference gangled up wire burr

Honestly? That looks like you opened a box, and some gunk got stuck to the tape residue left on your blade. Try stropping it on your jeans, I bet that goes away.
But then he may wonder why his jeans look like they're de-laminating.Honestly? That looks like you opened a box, and some gunk got stuck to the tape residue left on your blade. Try stropping it on your jeans, I bet that goes away.
Not sure I’m calling it correct. I understand that’s more of a Damascus thing because of. Layers…. Looks to be hollow with it being in the middle. By the time be made gets “ raw steel and then configured ( very over simplified) there is no later logical reason I can conceive with my limited metalergyDoes any Benchmade have a "laminated" blade?
I’ve put edge on it (1000 and leather) twice. I think coating would be gone. ?It looks like when they sharpened the knife, they didn't completely take off the coating at that part of the edge. It shouldn't have left the factory like that, but it's a cosmetic issue. If you sharpen the knife and follow the original factory angle, the leftover coating will come off.
