Is my PM2 the real deal?

Hi there,

Sorry for the redundant first post, but after watching a few youtube vids and searching online forums, I still haven't been able to come to a conclusion. I bought a digicam PM2 with DLC blade from an Amazon seller in the States about a week ago. I am thinking I have the real thing but just wanted to be sure.

Will the experts on this forum please take a look at the pics I have here to hopefully put my mind at ease?

The three pics show the jimping, the countour of the handle next to the lock, and what worries me most, the tiny bit of unsharpened blade right before the finger choil. What do you think-is it real or fake?

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Better pictures will help immensely.

Get some pictures from a little further back. It might help us in deciphering if it's real or not...

Are the liners milled (do they have holes in them)? That's usually a good way to tell if it's real or fake. Real ones are milled to make it lightweight.

Honestly, this pic leads me to believe it's real. The signature PM2 dimple on the liner. As far as I know fakes don't have it, but I may be wrong on this.

looks good to me. something on the fakes that I've noticed is that the the scales seem to be chamferred. I could be wrong.

Looks good to me ! The coating on the blade definetly looks like a real dlc coating and i can't imagine that you will get a real dlc coating on a fake one ! I recently handled a fake model of the PM2 bought by a friend and at least on that particular model have been major differences to the real one such as milling, g-10 texture, coating, blade shape etc.! And on your's i can't detect anything like that ! And to the grind on your blade don't know maybe old grinding joe passed away while grinding your blade and they left this spot as a memorial! So be proud of it :p

Thanks for all of the replies. I bought if off of Amazon from a dealer called Ye Olde Cutlery and Gift Shop, which made me not doubt its authenticity, until I realized that thr shop wasn't an authorized Spyderco dealer from what I could tell and I started watching YouTube videos on the fake pm2s.

I doesn't look fake to me. Looks exactly like my PM2... Well, unless my PM2 is a fake. Oh no, my PM2 could be a fake!!!

I would say it is 100% legitimate. The area where the choil meets the edge looks right, the jimping looks right, the logo looks right and the milled out liners look right. If you want to make doubly sure, use it for a while and you'll know fast whether its S30V or some cheap Chinese steel, but I think you can rest easy regardless of whether you do this.
