Is nickel silver weaker than brass?

I used some for the first time today, and it seems like when sawing and working on it, that it seemed more easily gauged and bent than brass. I'm making a friction folder (practice for when my slipjoint making stuff comes in:D ) and I'm worried it's too weak to be a long lasting pivot pin. This is a non-traditional one with stainless liners and micarta scales if it's relevant.

I would make the pivot pin from a harder material - steel.
NS and Brass are fine for rivets, but for a wear item, like the pivot, you want a little more. One trick is to use a hardened sleeve with a brass or nickel rivet going through it.

That's what I was thinking, that NS bent so easy from my over-zealous hack-sawing I figured it wouldn't last past my camping trip this weekend. Thanks for the help
