IS OIL A NO NO ??

Walt, as ever a very good explaination. If it has been discussed to death, why is this not in the FAQ?

personally i've had very good results with the CR florinated grease, i don't have experience with white lightning or tuf-glide.

I found just taking a Sentry lubricants marine tuff-cloth and cutting it up and using a platic tipped patch holder from a gun cleaning kit, lets me get into all the little nooks and put some dry lube where it neds to go. I just have to doit on my daily carry knife DAILY and on the others, Monthly....Wolf. whoknows if it works, but there is no rust and I have no intention of opening and closing my knives except for the four I play with.....wolf..TEACH ME BOYS!!!!!!

I try to stay away from CLP on both knives and firearms. It always seems to eventually turn a bit sticky. I have used Rem Oil for the longest with no ill effects. Just use it in moderation. For removal of grease or oils, I use Automotive Breakparts Cleaner $1.25 a can and effective as all get out. The only warning with it, is not to use it on a blued finish. It will remove gunblue as if it were oil as well. Good to go on stainless or before refinishing though.
Enjoy

Steelwolf; do a search for 'lubricants' you will find four recent threads, and undoubtedly more in the archives.
