I use both kinds on a frequent basis and have found no difference between the two as to every day tasks and chores. Even the difference in steels used (01 Tool for the GEC or CV 1095 for the Case) seem to make no difference as to performance at least for me - both sharpen easily and hold a good edge. Some might say that the lanyard tube on the GEC makes it more useful but I haven't found that to be the case.

Now I'm going to have to see how the new Case XR Crossroads with their S35VN blades and screw construction hold up.

We'll see how it works out.

I believe the old Queen steel is 440C. I have never used it in a Queen knife, but there are others here with a good amount of experience with it.

With a paying membership, you can hit the insert image icon for the post and include the picture directly. If you don't have a paid membership, you need to use a hosting service; I use Imgur. Once you have the photo on imgur, make sure you copy the BBC code and paste it into the post so that the photo shows up embedded. Too many people use one of the other codes, and only the imgur link shows up in the post, requiring people to click the link to see the picture. I don't like that.

Or you can use a hosting site on your phone. Directions are in post #11 here; I have never tried it this way but give it a whirl.

Or post #4 here:
