I placed an order a few days ago and still had not recieved a shipping confirmation. When I tried to call I get a funny busy signal, like it's not a real number or something. When I put the number in the reverse phone directory it came up with nothing.

Now I am concerned it's not a legit business. Has anyone ordered from them?

It appears this company is associated with gwknives.com. Both these companies have a poor reputation.

Did you pay by credit card?

Qknives and GWknives are apparently the same company.
Their websites show this as their addresses, phone#'s:

"By standard mail:

By phone:

Crap, I paid by debit card. I emailed them last night and did get a reply that my order would be shipped in 2 to 3 weeks. The phone number does not work, it's been busy every time I dialed it at all times of the day.

What exactly is the nature of their poorness? If it's just delayed shipping I can live with that. I would probably cancel my order if I could get ahold of them, I might try to email them. The website said most orders ship within a day, I wouldn't have ordered from them if I thought it was going to take longer.

Sometimes if you interfere with an order it causes more problems than it solves. Like them not shipping my order but charging me anyway, or something like that. I'm going to continue to try that phone number for a few more days.

I remember reading that they took a couple of months to fill an order. I read elsewhere that this is common practice with this company. Hopefully you will get your knife, and sooner than a couple of months.

It was the spyderco yin and yangs and bench stones that I ordered. I can get them quicker elsewhere from a business that actually answers their phone so I emailed them requesting a cancellation. I have not recieved a reply. It appears that my card has not been charged.

Welp, I have been emailing them daily, or more, to cancel my order since it seems they have not payed their phone bill. Maybe I should write a letter. I already got my yin and yang elsewhere. So far my account has not been charged. I may get yet another set of knives who knows. I now know to call a company first to make sure they are a legit business.

By the way, the yin, or is it the yang, the plain edged one, is the sharpest knife I have ever handled!!! I'm sure the serrated one will be nice too, it is very sharp, but I haven't used it on real food yet.

The stones are awesome as well. Larger and heavier than I thought they would be and the cases are very nice as well.

The bad thing is, if I get a duplicate set of knives and stones I don't know anyone that would apprecieate them enough to give them away as a present even. My neighbor sharpens his with one of those carbide rod blade cutting sharpeners! They put knives in dishwashers too. Those nice sharp spydies would be butter knives within a month!

I would keep the knives and sell the stones. Y'all might see them in the exchange.

If your debit card has a visa or mastercard logo you should be able to receive a full chargeback, if they (bad-rep, no-knife, money-grabbers) do charge you. Just keep all your emails. Also, you might consider contacting your bank to see if you have any preventive measures available to you.
all da best,
rats...

They havn't charged me yet, their policy is not to charge until the item ships. So far that much has been true.

It will be less hassle to keep my order if I ever get it than to force them to take the stuff back. Hopefully someone will read my email and cancel my order. Surely someone would eventually get curious and check the email.

AAAAAAHHH!!!! I don't know how I missed it before but I just checked again and I WAS CHARGED!!!!!!

This is going to be one of those times where for a small fee I learned a valuable lesson. I'm going to go to the bank and see what they say. It was my debit card so I'm not hopeful.

I guess I should be glad it wasn't more. I've read where this happens to other people, where they order something, nobody returns calls or email, and they never get their order. I'll know now to at least attempt a phone call before I put in an order, or deal with a known reliable source. Maybe this should go in the hall of shame. It's been 11 days, I still may get my order which will still be bad since they have already charged me.

I wish I had found this forum before placing an order!

I ordered 3 knives from gwknives on 11/16/08. On 11/17/08 I received an e-mail informing me my order had shipped via UPS. My credit card was charged on 11/18/08. On 11/27 I sent an e-mail informing the merchant I had not received the merchandise, and asked for the tracking number. I made several phone calls between 11/27 and 12/1/08, and the phone was never answered. I sent additional e-mails on 12/1 and 12/3. I never received a reply to any of my e-mails. I never received the merchandise. On 12/3 I contacted my credit card company and fortunately was able to get the charge for this order removed.

I recommend you avoid Qknives and also GWknives, which appear to be the same company (same contact information). They charged my card and did not deliver, did not answer the phone, and did not reply to e-mails.

OOOOPPPSSS!!! I placed an order through gwknives.com 4 days ago bc I saw they had great prices and a link on google shopping (Spyderco Centofante 4 for $43? I should have known better.) It was only then did I research the company, and thanks to posts like this, I learned this company was no bueno. So I called the credit card company immediately and had them stop payment and reported them to the fraud department. No confirmation, no returned emails, no phone calls answered...just like everyone else said. So a big "thanks" to all of those who posted and kept me from getting hosed. :) Hopefully no one else makes the same mistake. Today's lesson: if you want a knife, chances are they're in the exchange or at a member's site!

Has anyone actually received anything from this company? Are they completely illegit or just slackers?

Matt

They aren't complete scammers, but close to it.

I paid for some knives to give as presents to my groomsmen when I got married about 6 months ago, and it took a long time for my knives to get here. On top of that, they sent the wrong knives!!! They sent me knives that were very similar, but were a different color, inferior quality, and had different features (i.e. it was a different model). I was very upset and embarrassed to have to give them away, but qknives never returned any of my multiple emails and phone calls. I sent an official complaint to Yahoo!, but they basically were unwilling to do anything.

I got screwed. Don't you be screwed as well! Stay away!
