Maybe I get too excited about a product sometimes. I saw a video of a guy sanding bevels with Rhynowet sandpaper, then I thought I had to have some. Then I looked around on the Internet, and I couldn't find any. Then I was disappointed.

Is it supposed to be super-duper-sandpaper? Better than average?

Phenominal? No... but it's better than ultra cheap crap from Harbor Freight.

I know Salem's been using the stuff for a long while, and other reviews on various forums have had me searching as well. I was going to search the forum today to see if anyone had posted where to purchase it as I'd not had any luck looking online either.
I've been using the norton 3X, and it's done vastly better than any of the off-brands (including Ace hardware stuff) and the 3M purple paper. At 15 bucks for 50 sheets (what I've seen people quoting) that's far better than what I've managed to find.

I think Nick Wheeler did an instructional video on mirror polishing a blade a while back and he used Rynowet paper in the video. I'm not 100% but pretty sure.

I like it a lot. I use it mostly on my 9 inch disc sander. last longer than the cheaper stuff I used before .

It's cheap, cuts better, and lasts longer than any paper I have tried so far.

Give it a try, you won't be disappointed

And melsdad is correct, Mr.Wheeler does use the Rhynowet Redline paper.

I probably wouldn't use the word "phenomenal" ;) but I am sold on it.

Burt Foster turned me onto it for using on the 9" disc. I have tried EVERY PAPER I could find on the 9" disc... from cheaper to more expensive. The only thing that will cut longer on the disc is black zirconia and ceramic. Both of which are several times the cost of a sheet of Rhynowet.

The cheap cheap stuff and even the expensive sc papers, just get the abrasive wiped off after a few revolutions of the disc.

At about $0.45 per sheet, it's almost the least expensive paper you'll find. But I'd buy it even if it cost more because it works FOR ME. :)

FWIW- I wasn't mirror polishing in that thread, just getting a blade super shiny for bringing out a hamon. ;) :)

I'm with those on the positive side. It's great paper, lasts a decent amount of time, cuts nicely with a good finish, and you can get it from the great folks at Supergrit.com.

What's not to like? I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

Oh, come on Nick -- I can sand a clean 1200 grit over a cup of coffee. What's wrong with you? :) :p
