Is Sebenza the Best?

Are they the best? I like mine and that's all that matters. I could care less if anyone else likes them or not.

I love Sebenzas and CRK's in general. I also love Greg Lightfoot knives, Kirby Lambert knives, JW Smith knives, Kubasek knives, Larry Chew, and on and on. Benchmades are good, Spydies are good, Kershaws are good. We are blessed to live in a place in time where you have an incredible selection to choose from. Dive in!!!

I would think with regard to production or "semi" production knives, ON BALANCE, Sebenza's are about as good as you will find. And you can't have mine:D

There is no doubt in my mind that any topic concerning a Sebenza will draw a hailstorm of opinions. That is good though as it is different opinions that keep manufactors producing the great knives that are available. I don't have a Sebenza, but I have had a couple in the past. I don't have a Bradley Alias, but have handled a few. The Alias is just lacking something in my opinion, it is just a generic Sebenza. I carried and used a Sebenza for over a year and its performance was excellent, and this is why I had my dealer get me a large Sebenza 21 with African Blackwood inserts. Something I will never understand is why people think the owner of a Sebenza only owns it because it is prestigous. I owned the two I had because I liked having a knife that is this well engineered, and I liked using a knife this well engineered. Anyway, thats MY opinion, like it or hate it doesn't matter cause I'm sticking to it.

I have one 10 yrs. old in july 2011,is still as good as I bought it.Is it the best,I dunno,I have an old CRKT S-2 that is close,if not better at some points. And thats just a factory knife from taiwan. It all depends on what you think is better suited for what you use it for.Would I take my sebe onto the streets and risk losing it? NO...would I take the S2 and be comfortable with it,and know it is a better fighter ..Yes

I have never handled a Sebenza, but I'd love to try one to compare cutting performance and ergos. After a certain point paying for that additional thousandth of a hair's worth of F&F becomes an un-needed luxury.

I've never owned or used a folder more impressive than a Sebenza in terms of quality, consistency and dependability.

Hahaahah, we've already settled that point, otherwise you wouldn't even be on bladeforums. You'd be happy cutting with your house key or a sharp pice of stone.

And BTW, not only is the below the best knife (a sebenza) it's also the best of the sebenzas. ;)

You speak for all Sebenza owners? Maybe that additional thousandth of a hair's worth of F&F is what it is all about. Definately worth every penny to me!

The Sebenza is not even the best CRK Ti framelock with S30V blade and one hand opening. Some people are going to prefer the Umnumzaan, the Mnandi, or the Umfaan.

It is the best CRK Ti framelock with S30V blade, one hand opening, and blue thumbstud. That's about as far as you can go with 'best'.

That's nice. Is that a CRK limited edition or a after market mod?

I have 5 Sebbies, ranging from 1999 to current date. The best prod folder as far as fit and finish is concerned. If you want a cutting machine, Spyderco can't be touched.

I don't own a Chris Reeve's Knife, so I guess keep that in mind, and that this is just my opinion.

"Best" is always a matter of opinion, nothing can be ten in everything. When I was looking at getting my Tag Heuer (I think this is close because, while a knife is a tool, at the end of the day, it's still a preference on which you get, which IS THE POINT) I went through a lot of different brands, looking at cost vs. value (what I'm actually getting), I mean, for the low end Tag I could get the Highest-End Citizen with another watch to wear to work and still not break the price point to get into Tag's, but does that mean that the Citizen is a better choice? No, not at all, but that doesn't mean that the Tag is better either, certainly not, actually, especially since Tag's require upkeep that's expensive, if you damage them it's about the price of a new Citizen to fix, and if you lose it... Well, does that mean I got the Citizen? No; because at the end of the day, you still have a Tag Heuer on your wrist. Yeah, a Casio will do the same thing as my watch, in fact, more since it has a Chronometer and an Alarm clock, but the feeling I get from watching the second hand sweep across the black dimpled face of the watch, knowing the craftsmanship, the time, the fact that someone personally worked, touched, put life into this piece of machinery. It's worth the extra couple hundred.

So is the Sebenza the best? I don't know, do you want a Casio or do you want a Rolex? Both tell the time, no matter how you cut it.

Rest assured, I truly can't wait to get mine. Maybe next week I'll order it.

I've read opinions from both sides of the fence, i really want one...but economically they are out for a while (i was going to order one, then i got engaged and bought engagement ring lol)...

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Everything in my post is IMHO :D

Seeing Dave's pic is only making me repeat to myself "I don't need a Sebenza. I don't need a Sebenza."

It's not gonna work. Help me.

I'm sorry to inform you but the only help available to you is to actually get a Sebenza!!:D:thumbup: I went through the same thing as you several years back and the only thing to finally cure me of the "problem" was to get a Sebenza. Not only did it cure me but it also made me a believer in the precise engineering that goes into building one of these.

Chris Reeves has won many awards for his Sebenza. It's the best folder that I've owned but I haven't owned an Umnumzaan yet.
