Is simple better?

I look at the unique sebenzas, but often I think the designs are too busy and at least some should be simple and bold.

Look at this one, this is what I'm talking about!

I agree. I don't care much for the designs but that's just me. I prefer the utilitarian look of the plain beadblasted ones and the micarta inlays, which also have beadblasted handles. I think it was a nice call by CR to not polish the handles on those.

Although I did at one point have a moon song sebenza and I thought it was beautiful. Not gonna lie, I miss it. :(

I feel the same way. If I had a unique, graphic sebenza, it would be for a collective purpose. I had always wanted a plain jane sebenza and I finally got my sebenza 21 not too long ago. Just what I wanted, simple, to the point, and a little more guilt free than a fancier looking sebbie

No doubt in my mind, but I'm not a person whom wants anything flashy at all. I like quality items that don't bring attention to themselves, except to those whom know specific items. For example, everyone knows The North Face, but the average Joe wouldn't know about MEC, eventhough the products are better quality. And while I love Spydercos, there's something about having a plain Seb that goes unnoticed due to its very unassumimg presence.
Without being specific so I won't offend anyone's tastes, I think there are some aweful looking Sebs out there that command pretty big prices that members get all weak-kneed about here. But, as long the owners love them, that's all that matters.

Now, if we could just get one of those small Umthings into production...:D

Agree.....:p

i dig them all.

graphic, inlay, unique, fizzed, reg, classic, dont care, love the sebbie in all its forms.

I like the more strictly geometric designs, like on the tanto Sebenza, and I just picked up a Stars & Stripes front scale for my old reliable regular Sebbie. I'm not real fond of the squiggly ribbon designs.

Every so often someone asks why custom or art knives have blades of expensive steel when no one is ever going to cut anything with them, or even take them out of their display cabinets. I like to look at some of the more ornate Sebenzas and realize they are the same knife as what I carry, that the owner can snap open and go to work slicing things apart :)

Most of the designs seem to be terribly overcooked, which is ironic in light of the design of the knife itself.

Definitely agree with O/P that the bolder and simpler designs are better.

I have a unique Umfaan that's pretty nice. It has only three elements, and all three are simple.

One of these days I'm going to get a slab done to rotate on my Larges. Probably just some sort of swoosh or gash... just a nice, clean break through the basic Ti finish.

I like the simple plain titanium the best but once in a while you'll find me drooling over the micarta inlays.

I also like the plain ti the best, but I agree the simple designs are sometimes beautiful too. Most graphics are too fancy or dumb (imho, everyone likes different things), and it seems to me a big scratch would ruin the graphic, where instead it would add to the character of a plain ti.

I love the outrageous bubbles/fizz color anodized ones though, but that's not an official CR thing.

The simple plane Jane Sebs. are the ones i like.

Iv seen some designes that look alright but i dont and probably wont own one.

+1. Some of the designs are cool but it's not my style. I, like you, also like the non polished handles.

I like the plain Sebenzas more myself, especially since the decorated ones look so unbalanced IMHO. I don't like the polished, decorated scale in front and the beadblasted scale on the locking side.

The rest of my Sebbies, aside from the Dog Paws one, are all plain. I just like the simple & plain look.

I love my Moon Song Sebenza. To me it is like a cutting work of art.

I also get a stronger slide resistance with my thumb on the decorated side then the bead blasted. I must have some froggy fingerprints or something.

The dog paws Seb is pretty cool, the only other decorated Seb iv seen that I liked is the "fly fishing" one.
Both pretty subdued as far as they go.
