Is Sycamore good for?

Is Sycamore good for a bow and drill parts. I saw a ray mears clip on youtube and he made a fire in a minute. Has anyone usd it?

I've never tried sycamore, but I have read that it can be used for both drill and bottom board.

A very common tree in Brooklyn. It's planted in cities because it does very well in that environment.I knew someone who made a rifle stock with it just to be different .As kids we referred to it as the itchy ball tree.The fruit would be put down someones back and rubbed so it came apart causing itching !

I have personal used sycamore for a bow drill and it works great for bow drill matrial.
