Is tempering important for A2? Seems pretty costly.

I am looking for a place to heat treat some blades that I am making out of A2. I looked at the Paul Bos Web page, and it says single blades are $17.00. Then it says, "TEMPERING: Triple tempering: additional $15.00" Is this "triple tempering" service something that I need for A2? A total of $32.00 per blade seems very steep.

I might go with Texas Knifemakers' Supply. On their Web site, they have something called "sub-zero quench," at an extra charge, but is that going to improve A2?

Thanks.

Call them to check, but, no. The blades they HT will be hardened and tempered to your requuested hardness.

Thank you, Stacy.
