and it has a stamp (badly visible) with

KALINGA
U.S.A.

ist it a Buck or is it a fake?

I'd say fake. NO guard and the handle and blade look all wrong to me. Either that or it's been used hard and redone by someone.

My guess would be a well-worn, customized or salvaged (badly done) Kalinga.
