Is the Becker BK2 a good knife?

No, the becker bk2 is no longer true full tang.
The handle is skeletonized now to make the knife lighter.
This creates stress points which severely compromises the strength of the knife.

^well played sirs... Well played. Buy the 2. It will handle what u desire. Take a look at the 16 while your at it.

The only problem once you own and use it, you won't stop to you have every model . Trust me

Welcome! Hell of a first post on the forums, but you're sadly pretty far off from the truth as skeletonized handles are plenty strong on their own and can come darn close to rivaling solid handled, while making the knife lighter and easier to use.

Also, this thread is 4 years old, way to beat a dead horse :p

That is something that one needs to be forewarned about - Beckers are like Lay's Potato Chips, you can't have just one.

The BK-2 is a very rugged example of Ethan Becker's handles and a hunkin' hardened piece of 1095 CroVan that will serve you well - for a long time and stand up to almost anything.

No, its not good...its grrrrreat!
Buy one....now...
That whole skeletonize statement is pure fiction. The only time I seen it break there is a vid of a guy shooting it...
In normal use and %99 of abuse, you will not break it.

Key words: necro noob false statement troll lies uninformed

This thread made me LoL.

4 years later and "A sheath full of Cro-van Viagra" so much win. Goes to show you how tradwater is above time and space.

LOL @ first time poster talking smack in a 4yo thread.

WELCOME!

Pull up a log closer to the fire. There's plenty of Cro-Vangra for everyone. ;)

Necropost, with a completely worthless and uninformed addition. More, on a thread which just SCREAMS about lack of search skills in the first place. This thread could stand to have never existed. And it could also stand to have never been resurrected from the dead. Wonder why it's hard for first time posters to A, pay attention to the date on the thread, and B, keep their mouths shut when they don't have any idea what they're talking about.

For your reference, necroposter, full-tang means that the blade and handle are one solid piece, and that the tang extends fully through the handle. Whether it is skeletonized or not doesn't change the facts. A stick tang that runs through the entire handle is STILL full-tang, for instance, just full hidden tang. It doesn't even necessarily have to have a visible tang in order to be classified full-tang. More, skeletonizing doesn't "severely compromise" the strength of the metal. That's totally bogus. Putting holes in a piece of metal doesn't inherently weaken it or create stress risers. It CAN, but that's design/heat treat specific, and in some (many) cases, can provide structural integrity, in much the same way that an I-beam is stronger for its weight than another blade of equal mass without the I-beam shape. Anyone who thinks that skeletonizing weakens the knife needs a (better) education in physics, or practical experience.

I'm here because I just bought a BK2 as my first Becker. I'm almost overwhelmed by the sturdiness of it. Anyone who thinks they can tear up a 1/4" piece of steel of any shape is a better man than me and I think anyone downplaying the strength of the BK2 has bumped their head on something.

how does the bk2 compare to the esee 5.

i really like my esse izula ii, 3p and 5p but likely will pick up a becker because i cant help it.

There's a recent thread in this subforum comparing the two blades, go find it. ;)

Who asks the question the OP did, anyhow? Its a Becker. You can't go wrong with a Becker.

Could be a 1095 troll. Just ignore it :)

The thread at least gives me another photo op![emoji41]
