Is the benchmade 710 so hyped because it was an introduction of the axis lock?

I don't think the 710's popularity is because of hype. The knife carries very well for a knife its size & the axis-lock performs, pure & simple.

+1
Plus, it hs good ergos and they are tanks. I put off buying one for years until I finally got an ATS-34 version, used, for cheap. I still EDC that one despite the other steels of D2, M2 etc.
How's this for hype; when I want to give the Sebenza a break, I start EDC'ing the 710.

The answer to the original question is - just hype, actually a piece of junk.

All of you should send me yours just to get them off the street.

I prefer the ones like the M2 that I carry now! Oops, I mean like the one I never use and don't want on the street.

One for each day of the week would be nice.

the 710 was the 1st BM axis lock FWIW.

the 710 is ok, i like the 806 better too though.

Thanks for the correction. I thought the 705 and a few others came out the same time with the 710, but I have been wrong before ;)

I just can not find just what I want in an EDC. My 710 and 806 are too large except when I am going off on the weekends ( I am going to school and do not want a large knife with me). The 705 is a little too small for cutting fruit (the main cutting I do with a knife during the day). I was lucky enough to find a BM mini AFCK PE and I have been EDCing that for since I got it, but it is the liner lock. I love everythign about the knife other than the liner lock (which is a great lock for that knife), but I sure would love it if BM would make a special run of mini AFCK's with the axis lock and M2 :D, but I am sure that will never happen.
