Hey folks long time lurker looking to get more involved with the community I have come to love and respect. That being said I wanted to let everyone know that I finally did it. I finally stopped hesitating and bought a Benchmade Bugout, I jumped on the band wagon and haven't looked back. I'm sure this had been discussed many times, I just wanted to throw my opinion out there. So like the title says, is the Benchmade Bugout one of the best pocket edc knives ever made? I'm my humble opinion absolutely positively yes. I know everyone won't agree with this and that's ok. I just think when you take the whole package into account price, blade steel, size, weight, etc. The Benchmade Bugout is a home run, and I'll be adding many more to my collection. Let me know what you guys think.

While you are certainly entitled to your opinion, the term "best" EDC is pretty subjective. Personally I am a huge ZT/Emerson/Kershaw fan. But what one person may like, another may not.

I'm a big fan of zt also they make allot of great knives some of which I own.

Not the best (that is too subjective) but a home run yes for sure

I really like the Bugout for what it gives for the weight
The ergonomics are good, BM makes a great s30v, the blade length is great for most EDC tasks and I like the pocket clip
I have the ranger green version and it looks awesome ;)

but i won’t say it is the best, because at the end it really depends on what you want to use it for

I kind of like other knives better or at least I carry other knives much more than the Bugout so I guess those knives are better for me ;)

this being said I am very happy you have found your “best one” and especially since it is the Bugout

Oh ya I agree there the term best is subjective. In my opinion Benchmade and Spyderco make some of the best S30v blades out there great reply thanks.

I really prefer the s30v from BM
IMO ZT does it pretty well to
I had some issue with Spyderco and s30v but I will give it another try with an upcoming para 3 ;)

The best knife ever? Probably not. But I will say that I carried my ZT 0462 everyday until I got the Bugout. I didn't think I would like it as much as I do. It is pretty sweet.

Not even close I would take a PM2 anyday over a bugout a ZT 0450 or a protech tr3 are also better choices..If money is no object a large sebenza or socom elite are all better choices

Best knife ever? Not a chance, not with plastic handles. Maybe if they do a G10 version (like the 530 vs 531), it could be in the running...

For now the best pocket knife ever is the original Kershaw Blur. :D

Enthusiasm is good , but everyone has their favorites . It's all very subjective . ;)

If we consider "bang for your buck" , I'd put Cold Steel way ahead .

Congrats on your Bugout, OP.

The Bugout seems to have quite a large following. As for best knife ever, it depends on your preference. Some like Benchmade, others prefer Spyderco or alternatives and might take umbrage to the 'best knife ever' moniker.

I have 7 or 8 Benchmade folders right now and I will take any of them over bugout , so there is the answer. It is not even an average Benchmade folder, IMO.

I like mine a whole bunch.

Light as a feather, slim yet very ergonomic, deep carry clip, Axis lock, good steel, excellent blade shape, great warranty...

I chuckle every time I read a "Oh yuck, plastic flexy handle" post. I doubt I could break the handles on mine.

Is it the best ever? Nah.

But it's the one that I end up looking for when I need to pack a folder out of the house.

While the bugout is really nice, the Native 5 suits my pocket way better. After decades of searching for the perfect EDC, I now only EDC the Native 5. Try one and compare.
