I think they are very under rated. All the complaints I see are from a perspective that doesn't factor in what Frank Centofante designed it to be: A light weight Gentleman's Folder. . I love it because it is one the best looking and least expensive knives in the Spyderco catalog. Sure it could be improved, but the cost would shoot way up(Vesuvius). For me it's perfect for EDC. In a pinch it would suffice for self defense purposes , but you could also use it to cut a stray thread off your kids sweater at church without drawing attention to yourself like if you were to pull out a Para Military 2 in Digital-Camo. Delica might be in the same price range, but it's apples and oranges to compare them IMO. If you are wearing your Sunday best, or dress in formal attire for work, you don't want handle scales that will tear up your Dockers, or inside jacket pocket. It's not beyond the Centofante 3 to do hard use utilitarian tasks, but if you are going to be cutting carpet or cardboard all day... yes, Id use my Delica. The good thing is we are allowed to own and even carry more than one knife👍
