Is the DMT sharpener adequate for larger blades?

I love the idea of this sharpener but isn't it limited to 4" or smaller blades . I understand you can change the clamp position to finish off the rest of a larger blade but I can't see how one could sharpen part of the blade and then the rest and get consistent results.
 
Most any of the clamped guide setups, including DMT's Aligner, the Lansky and the Gatco, will handle blades up to at least 8", maybe a little more. With the clamp positioned in the central portion of the blade, the hones can reach the full length, without having to reposition the clamp. And if you use a larger bench hone with the guide (DMT's works well for this), I'm sure even larger blades could be done. Here's a video from DMT, demonstrating use of the clamp with a bench hone, to sharpen a large kitchen/chef's knife:
