I live nearby a Red's indoor range and as many of you may know, they sell quite a few knives there. I haven't been there in person, but do they have good prices? Or are they just off the top in price?

Thank in advance!

How would we know if your LGS has good prices? All I can tell you is that my LGS has way overpriced knives. As for used knives the exchange right here is one of the best places to buy knives.

^^Exactly my point. And some of my local sporting goods stores as well as LGS actually inflate the prices over MSRP/MAP. I saw a Benchmade 940 (regular, s30v, green scales) selling for $245 at a local store. I have yet to find a reasonable price on knives in an brick and mortar store. Which is why I shop on the exchange, or on one of the bladeforums sponsored sights like USA Made Blade, BladeHQ, and Knifeworks.

Brick and mortar stores are just places to be able to actually look at and decide if you like the knife in question then... order it online.

Generally speaking gun stores price their knives like other accessories; pretty high. Best way to know is wander in there and take a look. Then check some comparison pricing online.

I prefer to shop in regular stores versus online for knives. I like to handle what I buy. But for some brands, it is just not possible to limit yourself to brick & mortar stores. Many of the common knives are packaged in plastic packages that you can not open in the store without damaging the packaging. I'm willing to pay a little more at a local store than online.

I'm lucky having a shop maybe 30 min away from my house that stocks everything I could ever dream of and is able to offer the knives at the same price as most shops online. However a lot of people don't have the same opportunity I have and thusly I can think of a good way to go about purchasing. I would go to my LGS to handle the blade and buy it online if the store had a very unreasonable price. However I would buy if from my LGS if it was maybe $10 less online, that is just me though.
