Is the lock on my Sebenza OK? Pic >>

Michael, I’ll take your word that you didn’t intent any offence, but since I was the only one who was referring to the situation with lenny perhaps you can see why I thought your comment was directed at me. I posted links to the relevant threads about lenny to try and clarify my reference. You could have simply pointed out that you had direct knowledge about the problem with his knife and that his adjustment wasn’t at fault. Instead, you refer to what wrong with the forums and tell me to get my facts strait.

The fact remains that CRK has recommended that users not attempt to adjust the tension on the lock-bars themselves, as recommended by the starter of this thread. Strait enough?

James,

Like I said in private Email, I have no beef with you, nor did I intend any personal disrespect of you. Period.

My comment was intended as a general remark to ALL (including myself... sometimes) who quote things as gospel or bring up things little understood (by many of us) as fact. I never offered an opinion on CRKs official stand on lock adjustment. I just shared that Mr. Reeve told me that lock adjustment was not the problem with the Lenny Knife.

I still encourage you to contact him.

Michael, if I was mistaken about the exact cause of the problem with lenny then I apologize for passing on bad information. A series of misunderstandings that I'm sure we'd both rather put behind us.

I am curious as to what the problem with lenny’s knife was, but I’m sure this thread will serve as adequate reference that it wasn’t the fault of his adjusting the lock bar.

I’ll check my mail when I get home and drop you a message. Take care and Happy Holidays!

The "Lenny Knife".
I like that!
Now there are 2 things named after me.
As some of you know, I'm an avid mountain biker.
This one place we ride, Allamuchy, NJ, has some of the best technical trails I've ever been on.
We had just finished a grueling climb there one day, and I was looking forward to the downhill. I really enjoy downhills and I think it's the best part of my riding skills. Plus, I'm not afraid to take chances. Well, I was flying down the hill on that ride, on the edge of control, when I had to pedal to get over an obstacle. All I heard as I started to pedal was ggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I stopped and looked at my bike. Seems as a stick had popped up and wedged itself between my frame and rear derailleur dudring the descent. When I started to pedal, the derailleur had ripped itself apart and was left dangling on the chain. We all laughed at it and proceded to turn my bike into a single speed so I could limp out of the woods instead of walk. Well, that worked only so long until the tension in the chain became too great. You see, without some sort of device, such as a derailleur, the chain's tendency is to ride up onto the next largest gear cog. The next thing I notice, my cranks are spinning free. I'd ripped the chainring bolts clear out of the crank arm. Luckily, most of the remaining ride was down hill and I could coast.
To this day, that hill is known as the "Lenny Hill".
I feel so honored to have 2 things named after me.
Peace Everyone,
Lenny

I spoke to Lenny tonight, and I feel compelled to note that Lenny seems just as honorable as Mr. Reeve did in my conversation with him.

I am at a loss for words that would merge their two truthful viewpoints. They are both men of honor and seem to have different viewpoints on the failure of Lenny's Sebenza. Such is life...

CRK is a great maker: Lenny is a quality consumer.

America is a great place to make, buy and use fine knives....

The end,

Michael

Hi to fellow forumites.

Michael, James, Lenny and Mr. Reeve. I really enjoy the discussion here and the other 'Lenny knife' thread. It educates me on civilized criticism, opinion offering, thinking, etc.

The best quote from these is about 'it takes a strong man not to comment on a forum that would not help everyone'

So, conclusion: I am a happy forumite! :D

Bali Swinger,

You might want to look into a Tom Mayo TNT if you want a knife that you can flick without voiding the warranty....
