Is the military still the Spyderco flagship?

Or has it been surpased? Maybe I shouldn't say surpased, that's awful hard to do. Has it been overtaken by a new flagship?

In my opinion, yes. It hasn't been one-upped by any model I can think of.

Of the dark horse Wegner is a big "underground hit" as well

First off, I thought the Delica and Endura were the flagships. Those 2 are the only Spydercos I've seen for sale outside of a mall. Do they make anything bigger and badder? No.

I think the Starmate has rolled onto the scene like a herd of stampeding Water Buffalo. I'm beginning to wonder who DOESN'T have one by now.
But, the all time best sellers have got to be the Endura and Delica, purely because of longevity on the scene, a fairly low price point and, of course, the big bang for the buck the Endura and Delica provide the ELU. It's not easy to get that kind of performance for that price with other folders.
Of course this is strictly my WAG.

So, what IS the speed of dark?

Hi y'all,

I thought that the C22 was the flagship.

Later,
John

More like a racing yacht than a flagship.

A flagship model is generally the "best" offering that a company can make. It is usually more exotic and more expensive than the "normal" models.

For Honda, it's the Acura line - for Acura, it's the NSX

For Toyota, it's the Lexus line, etc.

Chrysler has their "Viper" as a flagship.

The C22 Michael Walker was the flagship when it was intoduced many years ago.

It had had carbon fiber scales with a highly refined nested titanium linerlock (colored). Titanium clip (colored), ATS-34 steel, phosphure bronze bushing and it was a multinational effort. (invloving Spyderco, Hitachi steel, Swiss manufacture (Klotzli) & some German subcontracting. Quite the effort.

I would have to agree that at this time, our Military / Starmate & the Centofante models are "the leading edge"; with machined G-10, nested steel liners, CPM-440V, Eccentgric Pivot, concave linerlock-tang interface, very high strength to weight (Military is lighter than the G-10 Police), SecurLok (in the Centofante) and very high build quality.

Next year...we'll see?

I certainly consider the Military to be Spyderco's flagship model. It has all the bells and whistles, but still appeals to a wide variety of users.

Its design is genius. The blade geometry is simple, elegant, and extremely useful. The handle is not only good looking and light, but also amazingly ergonomic. Plus, the Military has several unique technical improvements and a really neat blade steel.
It's as good as it gets.
