The knife you have is fine. You're not going to break it and if you do you have bigger problems. Really anything over 1/8" thick should be pretty indestructable with sane use. When batonning stay away from knots and really twisted grain. Splitting wood with a baton is pretty easy and shouldn't require much force to do. If you find you're hitting the knife too hard then adjust how you're doing it, grab another log to split or just plain throw the whole log on the fire.
