Is the small Sebenza 21 actually worth the money?

Not sure if this is appropriate in this forum, tell me if not and I'll delete, but have any of you guys owned a Hinderer XM-18, and can compare to a Seb?

There are many people that have owned both. USe the following link to see some threads (http://www.google.com/cse?cx=011197...e/home?cx=011197018607028182644%3Aqfobr3dlcra) or use the search function you have as a gold member or this google search (http://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=011197018607028182644:qfobr3dlcra)

At the end of the day from reading many threads here is the conclusion I have come to: Both are GREAT knives. Buy what you like and what appeals to you. (I want both)

Another great alternativ is the Mnandi.

I own both a Small Sebenza and a Mnandi. Mnandi gets more pockettime. Great knife, peace and loving looks.

I've handled an X18, great knife, I might even consider getting one if the current demand ever drops off and the prices drop.

I think that pertty much 100% of us here will agree that a Sebenza is "worth it"

So, you've essentially come to the choir to ask if the preacher is crazy ;)

If you really want to get a few dissenting opinions (read: sour grapes :D) ask in the General Discussion forum...they'll tell you that you can just get yer self a swiss army knife and use the rest of the money to buy ballet tickets...

"So, you've essentially come to the choir to ask if the preacher is crazy"
Yeah... I started to figure that one out after the fourth or fifth or sixth post.
I'm the kinda guy that would rather spend a few extra bucks for something that's worth it and will last a lifetime. I've bought and re-bought crappy tools too many times - it's actually MORE expensive to continually buy substandard tools.
I went for a few higher end hand planes (I'm a woodworker) and everybody said I was nutzo.
Funny how they always want to borrow my planes whenever I'm around. I guess I'm a bit too nutzo to let 'em use something that they think is worthless since their planes seem to satisfy them. That wouldn't make any sense, now would it? Besides, the bulk of them don't know how to use tools properly, don't want 'em messing up my way of paying the bills.
Made the purchase, hope the mailman doesn't get lost.

I did not really believe it but I took a friends advice on Sebenzas and ended up with a small plain 21 customized with a double thumb lug in blue.

There really is a difference in build quality when compared to other knives. That sort of thing impresses me much more than 'tactical', 'tough', etc.

In my hand at least, it seems to make sense how the design works but it took me a while to realise that.

It really is different than other knives I own.

I don't regret the purchase at all.

I also have both and feel the same way.

IMO the small is worth every penny. If it were closer to a $400 dollar knife I would still buy one. The tolerances are amazingly tight. The fit and finish are second to none. Chris Reeve customer service and warranty is the icing on the cake. This is one of many factors that keeps me buying CRK's. So YES. The small sebenza 21 is absolutely worth the money!

The seb is nothing less than what everyone here has already said.

I own both a Large and Small Sebenza 21s.
Love Both.
Large is Great.
Small is a bit more practical [for me]

Will not sell either unless I absolutely have to.

Just found the note from the mailman that says I have to sign for it.
Post office says I have to wait until after 5 to pick it up.
It's going to be a looooooong hour and forty five minutes.

Crap, they told me to come in to get it.
I arrive and then they tell me the carrier hasn't returned, yet.
Crap.

Had a short day at work and picked up my prize at the post office.
It appears to be what all have said - a precision tooled instrument.
Locks up solid and smooth as snot.
The lightness seems weird to me since any knife I've ever had around this size has had considerably more heft.
It fits perfectly in the pocket and seems to offer a lot of blade for the overall size of the knife.
I absolutely LOVE my ZT 0301 but in the city I live in most would become quite alarmed to see such a knife, police included.
The small Seb 21 seems to fit the bill quite nicely.
Not sure what I'll name her yet.

Congrats on that new sebbie, you should love it, mine gets the most carry time out of my
collection.

I'm liking it more and more. Still unsure what I'll name 'er.
The blade has less play in it in the closed position than my ZT 301.
This surprised me... didn't expect that.
The Seb is already my preferred EDC.
I'm quite pleased with 'er indeed!
:)

good thing  I seem to be carrying a small sebenza more and more, where I used to carry either a large sebenza or an umnumzaan.

Before reading this post, I thought.... "What a rip off! No way is that little knife (that doesn't look that great in my opinion) is worth that kind of money. After reading all the comments.... I know want to find one to feel for myself and possible buy if it is worth it. I have had over 100 at a given time. I sold many off and narrowed it down to about 60 right now. That being said, I only have a few I really enjoy carrying daily. If I could find another one that I love to carry, it would be worth the price to me. I may have to check this knife out.

I have owned alot of custom knives in my time, and I have to say CRK's build quality is among some of the best.
CRK uses great materials, such as thick Ti slabs, great blade steels and very tight tolerances. I have not bought one
CRK that the blade was not centered perfectly, and I can not say that about some custom knives that I have spent
$1000's on. I see people selling CRK's that they have had for years and still get their money out of them...So I think
that CRK are well worth the money, but everyone is different......
