Is the Strider HT worth spending $325 on?

What other options do I have for an overbuilt/heavy/built like a tank knife with spear point and large serrations on the back spine?

Like I said, I will drop 325 if I have to.

But I'd love to drop 200 so I can buy some other weird shit with the rest of the money. :D

why do you need sawback? chopping with a 7-10 inch blade would be much faster. of course a saw or axe is even better, but lots of stuff to carry. sawbacks aren't to fast at severing logs.

get a 7-9 inch plain edge blade, full tang, g10 or micarta scales, tool steel, coated blade.

get a smaller knife for detailed work. big and small method.

I take back everything I said. I had the pleasure of reading the posts that were written while I was writing mine and all of a sudden, everything changed.

3Guardsman is right, the Strider will slay Zombies. Lot's of 'em. I also recommend a flame-thrower. Zombies hate that sh*t.

Don't get the spear-point. Zombies don't even care about that. They only fear tantos. I don't even think spear-point knives can cut a Zombie. Maybe someone can confirm this, I'm unsure of the facts.
 Finally, a post relevant to the actual topic.

If you're serious about wastin' zombies- the Strider HT really isn't the proper tool for that, at all. For zombies, you want a big chopper. You want a long, heavy blade for loppin' heads. You need something with reach. You don't want back serrations or a sawback, or anything that can get caught up. The only way to kill a zombie is to cut off the head and/or destroy the brain. You try to saw a zombie's head off with a sawback, and he'll be chewing on you while you do it. You want a kukri, a machete, or a short sword.

If you want a Strider, this is their only current offering that might be of use against zombies:

if you can find one, a PAB would work nicely (the one on the bottom):

The knife above it, a HI AK would be even better.

The tanto may not be the best choice for some types of usage, but it is still useful. If you like the style, buy it. As you can see by the varied opinions in this forum, there is no one knife that can do it all. All knives are a compromise, so you would be better served buying 2 or 3 knives to cover all the bases you mention.

here are a couple i think i could recommend for when zombies attack... note they all have spine serrations.

A civil unrest/SHTF knife? I'm shocked that no one has mentioned the obvious choice.
