Is the traditional pocket knife superior to the tactical folder?

If you're careful in the selection process you can find a nice cutting thinner bladed tactical. So you can have your cake and eat it too.

When you look at comfortable carry, ease and quickness of use, comfortable handles, durability of materials, and safety...I think the tactical wins hands down.
And if you get a tactical with a flat ground thin blade, the tactical wins in cutting too.

I still like traditional knives but I will probably never carry one again.

I think you have to find the knife that works well for YOU, and you cannot get swept away with knives that are trendy. By all means, read knife magazine articles, but make your final choice personal.

I say this because I have done everything wrong. I got into this sport just as the CQC7 craze was going on. I wanted a good, strong jackknife, I had already had a Buck 110, and I wanted to try something different.

I bought the CQC7 not because of my needs, but because of the trend that was going through the country. I found that a chisel edge grind cuts to the right for me.

I compounded the error by buying SIX Microtech USSOCOM tantos. Boy, I loved those knives! With the Edge Pro, they sliced like razors! However, they wandered all over the place doing rountine chores, like slicing open an envelope.

I bought a Kershaw Whirlwind; for the 40 bucks, it out-cut lots of my high-end knives. I learned my lesson.

I carry a clip-point Strider SnG now. Is it practical? Is it tactical? Who knows? It works for ME.
