Over years of responding to arguments, accusations and displeasures, I have realized that the only approach is to let whoever is unhappy pour out their opinion and to wait until they have no more to say. I think by now, everyone has had their say.
Bear with me while I share a few thoughts from my side. Chris and I lead a small company and work hard to ensure that the product that leaves the door is the very best that we can make. We take our business very seriously - it has been our livelihood for 17 years. We have ridden a wide variety of ups and downs, compliments and criticisms. Chris and I attend to the details, take care of our customers and our employees. We have an excellent staff and we are proud of them and the work they do. We do not plan to change any of this.
While the Forum is an important place of communication, it has to fall in line with all the other responsibilities I have in my day. There is accounting work to be done, payroll, mail, email, advertising and a myriad of other things. As good as Julie is at her job, when Bridget and I are away for a week, these items get behind and must be brought current. Chris and I have a 10 year old son and, particularly after we have had to leave him with friends for over a week, the weekend belongs to him, not BladeForums. On Friday, January 19, our company was closed. The owners of the building are adding on and the electrical connection scheduled to take place on Friday required that the power be cut off to the entire building. This was a situation that did not excite us but it was beyond our control. While I can understand the concerns that were expressed on the Forum, I truly did not see them as life and death issues.
For those who have poured out support for Chris and Chris Reeve Knives, come our sincerest thanks. For those who have criticized us, it is your right to voice your opinion but remember that responsibility comes with the freedom to make these comments, deductions and judgments. I would urge everyone who posts on these Forums to think carefully and clearly before they jump in.
In regards to the "Lenny" issue, there is nothing else to be said besides the fact that his knife shipped overnight from our workshop on January 10 and it would appear that he is satisfied.
In the issue concerning our warranty, there is no more to be said than has already been stated, both in recent and several previous threads. Our warranty is not unconditional, nor has it ever pretended to be. It is a solid backup for knives that out-perform any in the market and, time and again, we have proven that we provide service beyond the wording of the warranty.
I will continue to monitor the Forum as regularly and thoroughly as I can, but I am not super-human.
Anne
