I usually carry Zaan or SMF as an edc.Im thinking about getting a ZT 301.

Is the weight difference between the SMF and the ZT 301(2 oz.+)

going to be a Big difference for edc? Does the 301 fill up most of the front

pocket? How do you like yours ? Do you carry it most of the time or only

occasionally? :D

Thanks

For edc it's WAY too heavy.

Based on what? Your opinion? Or have you even handled a ZT300 series?

To the OP, The ZT300/1/2 is a large and heavy EDC. If you're looking for a tank, go for it. But if you're looking for an EDC that disappears in your pocket look elsewhere. You will notice it but if I had to pick a SHTF knife the ZT302 would be my pick for a folder.

Wear a belt and you'll have no problems. It's not as bad as you would think. Less than half the extra weight of a Bic lighter.

Depends, you probably will need to EDC one to really find out. If you are used to wearing flimsy cloth or shorts you may have an issue. I EDC'd a ZT0200 as well as an 0301 and had no problem.

I have on my person right now 2 folding knives which total 18 oz. together.

i had a 0200 which is around 7oz and it was just way chunky heavy for EDC IMO...i liked the design but not enough to keep it for long...also i hated the pocket clip...

Personally its way too heavy for me. Find something that's 8 ounces and put it in your pocket and walk around to get the feel. Tyrade is much more manageable

Not a problem for me, as I trade off between a 0200 and a 0301.

8 ounces does not bother me one bit. The 0301 carries very well.

I have an 0200 and with jeans it is not bad at all. With thin shorts in the summer its a bit annoying at times, but with jeans its perfect.

Depends on your pockets. I'm not fond of the OEM clip though. Against the rough texturing of the G10 and titanium side, I have to tug it to get it out (that also wears the edge of your pocket). If you carry tip down, the hex cap pivot and the part of the handle/scale that meets the bladestop/stud have uncomfortably sharp corners.

Not a sheeple friendly knife and the holes for the clip don't allow for discreet carry with the OEM clip. You will have a noticeable bit of handle sticking out of your pocket.

So once again, if you're wearing a rugged set of utility/etc pants, feel free. Anything nicer, you might want to think about something smaller, or getting a clip mod.

Edit: I carry mine most of the time regardless - you can get used to it if you really want to. Personally, I'd carry my auto commander if it was legal (2" max for autos here).

I carry an eight-ounce knife every day (not a ZT, though). Compared to all the junk that's on my belt, it's the least of my worries.

It was heavy the first day,now I feel naked without one in my pocket. I rotate a ZT0200,03500 and (2) 03XX. Plus ,when I wear slacks,I carry the spec bump. So for me no,not too heavy.YMMV.

I've probably handled more knives than you will ever own including ZT's. So, don't even try.

Please enlighten us with details on your knife experiences. There could be many here that can benefit from your knowledge.

EDIT: And to keep all this info from derailing this thread, please start another.

Do you want a cookie?

The OP asked for for help regarding the ZT, your broad statement of "WAY too heavy" is completely useless. You didn't justify it, you made a blanket statement and left the thread until you came back to taunt me.
Your original post was useless, as was your most recent post. How about you take some time to answer the OP with reasons rather than blanket statements? Is it that difficult? Others have already done it, now it's your turn.

How dare you challenge him? Don't you understand? He's handled many knives! Perhaps even hundreds of knives!

Don't own an 0300 yet (or an SMF), but do have a G-10 Tyrade, 0200 and 0350. For me its not so much the weight as it is the bulk. The Tyrade and 0350 carry better than my 0200.

I'm guessing that even you don't own as many knives as you've handled. ;)

Care to expand on your original comment or share any suggestions on what would be a good EDC alternative for that size range folder?

I love my 302 i notice it if i think about it but if im busy doing somthing else i dont even feel it, it is a big knife though!

I was surprised by the weight, personally... after reading all the hype here on the forums, I expected it to be a brick. Instead I barely noticed it was there in my pocket - the same which can be said of every knife I have. I wear khaki's with a belt 90% of the time, and carry everything between a 5.5 inch Cuda Maxx to a Small Sebenza, and haven't found any to be more particularly heavy or cumbersome than the other.
