Just got what was supposed to be a 150U in the mail.Instead it's a 153UH.For the price its not a bad deal but I'm wondering was there a 150UH ever made.Searched the archives with no luck.Toby

Ummm... 15OT (not 150 T) and 15Uh. Uhhhh...5OT and H-15. Ahhhh... there was a #150, but it predated both Uncle Henry (the line, not the man) and Old Timer (also the line, not Codger). Sorry, I can't tell you what it looked like, but maybe LT or Larry, Phil, or Redshanks can!:D

Ahhh.. the old "misread tangstamp" trick! A 3 is an 8 is a 9 is a 0 is an O. Well, it does look like it could be a 153UH, but what is the oxidation magic going on with that blade? Could it be the elusive 1095 carbon steel version?? Is the stamp SCHRADE or SCHRADE+? Is there a cartouche on the pommel or guard? Serial number? Henry Baer sig? Read the knife man!

Codger!!

I lightened up the photo some:

It does look like something on a carbon blade. The sheath looks like German work.

Had to clean it a little but the blade says Schrade no +.The guard has Uncle Henry written on one side and the number 370259 stamped on the other. No marks on the pommel. The blade is carbon steel.Toby

Then hang onto that one Toby. Not too many were made with carbon blades. That one with the sig stamp and serial number is an earlier one, and interesting to have, even if the overall condition is only "good". Of course you know the sheath is a mismatch, but that doesn't detract from the interesting knife! I wouldn't get rid of all of the patina.

Thanks Redshanks for posting the pictures.I've got to learn how to do that. The stamp reads Schrade,U.S.A.153UH.I guess what they say about the blind pig is true.Toby

Toby, if you want a new 153UH sheath, you can find it at item #6592280910. That sheath has a stone pocket but doesn't come with a stone. If you also want an original stone, you can find it at item #6580671135.

I got one, thanks ,I must of missed that this morning.Between the chemo, and the radiation, and trying to deal with FEMA I seem to be missing a lot lately.Toby

Sorry about the chemo and general bull. Just tell me what you need sheath stone whatever I will get it in the mail. I usually let everyone iron these out for them selves but in this case since I am already writing, yours is a special edition made on request and contract. A few oddballs were done prior to the inception of the UH line (LATE 60tys ) these will carry a Schrade Walden tang in various patterns so you never know what will pop up( and are real finds) however upon request they would make them up with a carbon blades under SCHRADE USA post 72, pretty rare. Codger your getting good a couple of years ago the old tangstamp trick might have caught you ( at least for a minute or two). However you are starting to sound a bit like Bernie. All I know about knives is that I have an awful lot to learn so please pardon my 2 cents worth. As far as reading a knife sometimes a teacher is needed to interpret the reading material. However In your case I know you are just joshing as am I.

Please advise address and what you need for your knife and I will get it in the mail. lt632ret@frontiernet.net ( first character a small L not the numeral one for which it is sometimes mistaken.) LT PS it is my pleasure to make this offer however if you find it offensive please excuse my interjection.

LT,email sent.I hope those of you who follow this forum realize what a gift this gentleman is.Nuff Said,Toby

Yes, I was poking fun at someone (not you or Toby), and have a lot further to go before I would consider myself to be knowledgable about knives. I learn by immersion, as dabbling does not drum details into my thick head. I had a professor once who was as caustic as the unnamed person I was lampooning, jeeze I loved to hate that guy! So much so that I made it my mission to learn more than he knew. Unbeknownst to me, his teaching style worked well on me. But a lot of classmates took him at face value and dropped his class or squeeked by. It was long after I was gone from that classroom that it dawned on me what he had done to/for me with his teaching style.

Likewise, the object of my jest does make good sense a lot of time, even if his style comes off as arrogant. The secret is to pick the sweet, ripe fruit and leave the green, bitter fruit on the tree, and the overripe, wormey fruit on the ground. I do hope my light-hearted replies to questions here in the forum do not offend folks. That is never my intent. Only to spread what knowledge I have acquired. And to inject a bit of levity into what could be viewed as a very dry subject.

And good luck with the life-stuff you are dealing with, Toby. Knives/knife talk makes a very pleasant diversion to the BS we all go through on a daily basis.
