Is there a better one day shoulder bag than the maxp.junbo and fatboy?

Hi guys,

It seems that these 2 are always recommended for a one day shoulder hiking bag.

Is there anything else? I don't really care for those 2.

I just had a custom shoulder bag made up:D Based on an old shell bag design. I am going to put up some pics of it later today. Keep an eye out.

I have both the Jumbo and Fatboy and really like them, tough and durable, and plenty of room for all the gear for a dayhike.

I carry the messenger in size xtra small. I carry it everyday. Its freakin bulletproof. It has an additional removable strap for when im on the bike that keeps it from swinging around.

Heavy duty balistic nylon with white rubber coated interior for durability and viability of contents. It has an interior orginizer that is well thought out. Ive carried it in torrential downpours in the woods and on the bikes, and never had anything inside get wet. I think personally that they are tougher then maxpedition, and more low key looking. This is my 2nd size Xsmall from them. I traded the other off cause I didnt like the color.

Here is mine exactly...

They have a cool build your own bag section on heir website, however I am lucky enough to have a Timbuk2 dealer nearby.

Man the chestnut and silver XS is only 22.00!! Thats a freakin steal!! I paid 70.00 for my black one.

I might have to order one for the wifey..

One that doesn't get any mention here but I've really been liking so far (I've had it for 3 or 4 months) is the Osprey Flip http://www.ospreypacks.com/detail.php?productID=142&colorCode=560&tab=description

Pretty roomy, has a water bottle holder on one side, a completely open pouch in the back (when hiking, I can keep a knife as big as a Busse Skinny ASH in there unnoticed but easily accessable). I bought it because I wanted side carry bag for getting in and out of a vehicle, carry the basics, and not look too militaristic for when I'm around people. The only problem I've seen is there's no way to cinch shut the main pouch, so if you've got the flap bulging with stuff, the main pouch might catch rain.

Oh yeah, it's made (at least partly) with recycled materials:thumbup:

Yes, but the OP said he didn't like them!!

"For a long time I used a GI buttpack rigged with a Mosin Nagant sling as a shoulder bag." +1

I used a claymore mine bag.
You can get several styles of engineer or gas mask bags to use.
Much cheaper than $65/175 messenger bag.
