Hello all: I seem to remember seeing a GEC knife that was a single blade on a big serpentine stock knife type handle die. Am I crazy? What was the pattern number? Anyone have one for sale?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure they do a "sod buster" pattern. Don't know what number it is. I can't afford a GEC, and from what I've read about them on these forums, I don't want one.

They do and it is probably one of their least expensive patterns. Why don't you want one based on what you have read about them on the forums? I can understand cost? But the other part is a mystery to me.

No it wasn't a sodbuster, it was like a standard American 3 blade stock knife except there was only the large main blade. Thanks.

That sounds like the jack knife pattern. No idea if GEC makes one but Case may.

If you are refering to the 66 pattern then there is one that has been modified to only have the single main blade. However, it started off as a 66 slim (only the main blade and a pen on opposite ends.) The one I am refering to is in yellow died bone.

As far other single bladed GEC, I do not recall one in a serpentine pattern.

You could check out their website. greateasterncutlery.net

The 48 is a reverse dog leg that came in a single blade but never started as a stockman.
The 55 and 56 may have been another one you saw.

55 houndstooth perhaps? Not exactltly a stockman but it is a single-blade serpentine.

Now this knife has transformed into a three bladed knife in the stockman pattern. Perhaps a #38, or #81/82 Stockman.

The 66 pattern may have been it. It had wood handles and a single clip blade. Was there a production single blade version or were you saying it was modified?

It was modified. There hasn't been a single 66, unfortunately.

Did it have a turkish clip or a traditional clip blade?

The 66 is at 3 1/2 oal.

If you are thinking of moding one, but want a larger oal, the 82 could be moded to a single turkish clip. It would be at 4 1/4 oal.

They have plenty look at their website or better check out Knivesshipfree site good service and stock, webpage is easy to browse. Can monitor the sales forum on this site also often come used for sale, if in good condition however not terribly much lower then retail because of the collectibility and limited runs GEC offers.
