Is there a good knife for a present

A Victorinox Swiss Army Knife of appropriate type, depending on his interests/hobbies.

For a more traditional knife which might appeal more to your Dad's generation, how about a Queen Stockman in D2?

A multitool of the Leatherman/Gerber type would sneak under your Mum's radar.

For cheap, reliable cutting tools, try Opinel. You could buy him a range of sizes without selling a kidney.

DON'T SELL A KIDNEY TO BUY YOUR FATHER A KNIFE!!

If you did I'm sure the entire BladeForums legal staff would be on us in a heartbeat. Not a good thing.

:D

Pop's turnin SIXTY?!?!??? Lord, man, get him a HISSATSU from CRKT! At 60 it is time to do things whether they meet with Mama's approval or not.

For my 60th, I declared my independence. I took my lovin wife aside an explained that I loved her more than life itself....BUT....it did not include her FAMILY!
I explained that for 39 years I had acceded to her habit (NOT desire) to spend holiday dinners with that ....bunch. And ...as of age 60.... I would no longer EVER see that mob again. And haven't.
Sure, I miss out on the screechy sister, the cop who cheats on his wife, the grandkids who are "borrowing" tens of thousands of dollars from her mom, and several misbehaving yowly kids. But now my meals are pleasant. We spend em together or with OUR family.
I have no idea how such a wonderful woman came from the motley array of misfits that made every holiday a full blown MISERY!
But I told her that ...at 60.... I had 10 (MAYBE) 20 years left and, by God, I was not gonna make em crappy ones.

So....get dad a HISSATSU.....or a KRIS.....or a MACHETE!!
And explain to him how to tell mom it is to protect her.

:) :) :) :)

Victorinox SAK. Especially one of the alox handled models.
The Cadet and Cadet II are excellent smaller pocket knives.
The Soldier or something from the Pioneer series, while slightly bigger, still carry very well.
Excellent knives at excellent prices. You might want to pick one up for yourself too.
